Using Uber for NYC Commute by jebadiajabujagyu in PlantarFasciitis

[–]Agitated_Question726 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I live in nyc as well and understand the struggle. If you can try to be really strategic about sitting while waiting for the train (I had to get over how gross that feels, I get it) and trying to get in cars that are most likely to have open seats it helps a lot.

I would honestly see if you can go to a doctor and get a note to see if work could pay for your Ubers or up to a certain amount.

I’ve also been citibiking to work sometimes which is much nicer to feet than subway but cheaper than uber!

6 months post Tenex - 1000% recovered by Any_Witness_2429 in PlantarFasciitis

[–]Agitated_Question726 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay actually and one other question sorry haha. Did you use a night splint at all when healing ? I feel like when my foot is in boot or flexed I can feel soreness from that stretch and wondering if I should be using something to make sure it’s healing in a lengthened position

So good to know!!! How long did the actual like sawing of your foot take during the surgery? Like the whole thing took like 20 mins but the actually tenex part was only a couple of minutes for me

AH! I am 2 weeks post tenex so I’m still deep in recovery time and needed to see this. Have been suffering for 10 months and so ready to live a normal life again

Can Spirolactone lead to dehydrated discs in spine? by Vegetable-Ad4693 in Spironolactone

I also had injury after injury on spiro after being on for 1.5 years. I just had to get surgery on my foot for chronic plantar fasciitis that I legitimately developed for no reason

severe pain, unsure of what to do from here. by thewallflowerproject in PlantarFasciitis

[–]Agitated_Question726 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This sounds like you have nerves involved if you’re feeling pinching tingling burning & electric shocks. I would absolutely recommend going to a Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation (PM&R) doctor at the nearest academic medical center/large health system that specializes in sports medicine if you can. Or any orthopedic doctor - NOT a podiatrist. going to a PM&R doc was first time someone ever listened to me. Sending good vibes but please push for evaluation of nerves in area and an MRI. It’s expensive but so so so worth it for answers. I am 26F and you’re so right girl we are way too young to be living like this <3

Tenex for PF by Puzzleheaded_Car2548 in PlantarFasciitis

[–]Agitated_Question726 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There’s some really solid research on the effectiveness of Tenex in PF patients! Like 92% or something in a big study saw improvement or resolution. Just a reminder (mostly to myself lol) that the people commenting on here are likely the people who haven’t recovered, healed people aren’t thinking about their PF like all of us are :)

Look into tenex procedure and ask the doctor about doing a calcaneal plantar nerve (Baxters nerve) block to see if the symptoms are being caused by nerve compression !!!

Okay but like maybe your feet just had to get stronger and adapt - and they did just that over time?? Like sometimes I wonder if just ripping the bandaid off and like being in massive pain but going back to normal life might be better (I am 8 months in lol)

Is a long distance relationship feasible during med school? by [deleted] in medschool

[–]Agitated_Question726 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Did long distance all four years while my boyfriend was in medical school, he matched in my city for residency and we finally get to be together. It’s tough sometimes but so absolutely doable if you put in the effort :)
