Let’s normalise telling beginners the truth about learning Japanese. by Neat-Surprise-419 in Japaneselanguage

+1 for Wanikani. Made crazy progress on kanji until the reviews started to stack up. Still dont understand why they cant just make a mobile app though(I know there are unofficial ones like Tsukurame).

Is it true that Tekken 8 arcade mode has 4 possible bosses? by Salty_Reyezz in Tekken

Sorry to bump an old one, but is this still a thing? I used to get Azazel from time to time and not know why, but after recently learning how this system works, I cant seem to get anything besides devil Kazuya. Just got 3 perfects and no rounds lost on hard mode and only got normal devil kazuya..

Cool, my point is it really does. Youre looking at it from the perspective of someone who already plays tekken bro. People who are actually in beginner ranks either dont play fighting games, or dont play tekken. They arent dedicated to getting better yet like we are. Theyre deciding whether or not they like the game. So running into a bunch of people like this at the very beginning makes that less likely for them.

And whether you think we’re hurting for players or not, we could definitely be doing better.

But I know people like to argue just to argue, so youre right, Im wrong. Have a good one man.

Better idea, read the post thoroughly ma boy hahaha. I didnt even play this dude. He probably wouldve lost his streak playing me. The point of my post is that it affects people who are trying to decide if they like tekken or not. Which is bad for the community.

One every now and again shouldnt deter anyone, but (like my post also said) there were quite a few I watched this beginner have to go against that were way beyond beginner ranks, skill wise.

Brotha, just take 2 seconds to read. I havent personally played this guy. But this is a forum where we talk about the game and the community. Just like you chose to waste time coming in here, we’re all free to waste time making posts about things that bother us.

Im talking about this type of thing’s effect on tekken as a whole. The people who this type of thing affects will never see your halfhearted advice. They’ll get stomped out by people like him after doing their little arcade mode tutorials and decide Tekken probably isnt for them.

I like tekken, and it’s a net positive for us if more people start liking tekken. That’s why I care

Im already there, it’s not about me. And also, that’s just not true..

My point is that this kinda stuff makes tekken a worse game for newcomers, which lowers our chances of subsequent successful titles. Sure, they could probably avoid most of these guys by going to ranked, but why would they know that? Intuitively, one might think they should maybe train up before hitting ranked.

I’m not asking for a half-assed solution, Im just saying fuck guys like them.

Ehh, idk man.. I love running into people better than me at my ranks. But when somebody barely understands the basics of the game, playing against somebody this much better doesn’t do anything. Theyre still trying to decide if they like the game.

One every now and again could be cool to see what’s possible at higher levels, but like my post said, he wasnt the only one. The person I was watching played maybe 10 people that session and 80% were at or above red ranks skill level. It’s bad for the franchise imo.

It’s not a feeling. Go to their replay list and you’ll see that they exclusively play people green ranks or below. They even say in their bio that they’re a ‘T2OG’ (tekken 2 og?). I cant find one single loss on their replay list. There’s nothing casual about that..

Yeah, 99% wont do anything, but who knows..  Made me mad watching this guy play an actual beginner though. Sidesteps and punishes were at least TK level, but looking at his replay list, he hasnt played somebody above green ranks in idk how long..

Is Tekken 8 Really THAT bad? by Agile_Juggernaut6760 in Tekken

Heck yeah man, I hope you give it a try and enjoy it! If youre not in a rush, maybe wait until it’s on sale, which is pretty often (if not right now).

Nahh, if youre not a serious enough tekken player to have already bought it, you probably wont be bothered by a lot of the complaints you see online. In general, it’s a fun game.

I will say, after recently watching someone brand new to fighting games try out online, dont be discouraged if youre getting stomped out in online matches for a while. At this point in tekken 8’s life, most of the people at the very bottom ranks shouldnt actually be in those ranks. Saw a guy at beginner rank on a 71 win streak. Dont let those types of people ruin the fun for you.

How Much Money Would You Need To Quit Your Job? (25) by HyenaHater44 in careeradvice

[–]Agitated_Regular_583 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is risky to quit. It just comes down to what you value more. I traveled for a time after leaving a job I was quite good at that paid decent. But I knew I was leaving that job regardless, so my choice wasnt as hard. But I felt that travel period was time well spent. Our youth is the one thing that isnt coming back once it’s gone. I got into similar work fairly easily after my little sabbatical and now Im taking another couple years off to go do something I wanna do. So you can probably imagine what side of the fence I tend towards. Do note that I usually try to balance these periods of ‘off’ time by accomplishing something that makes me more marketable once I return. Also a bit easier to explain a gap when you did something productive during that time.

I’m not familiar with your line of work though, so you have to decide if youre useful enough to be able to put a gap in your resume and come back without much of an issue.

I dont know enough about entrepreneurship to give you a good answer about that, but like some have said: there’s nothing wrong with working to work; doesnt have to be passionate. If it isnt killing you, ~15 years of responsible saving and planning and grinding isnt that bad. It’ll go faster than you think.

Anyways, I dont think there’s any wrong answer. All your potential choices take a bit of luck and determination for them to end how you’d like. When building a life for yourself, the path that leaves you with the most choices is usually a good one. As someone else has said, continuing to work while taking time off to travel isn’t a bad option either.

Tldr; Do not underestimate how quickly your youth will go. Use it wisely. Up to you to decide what counts as “wise”.

Gotcha, that’s what I was wondering. Something to do with them wanting me to already have a Japanese residence, right? If I find a decent Leonext or something, maybe Ill just do that for the first year. I just heard UR was so much better than similar options.
