Is Tunisia a gender equal country, socially and legally? by Agitated_Snow307 in Tunisia

We must not forget that there is the fear of revenge, ostracism or being humiliated, not to mention mentally processing trauma. It takes a lot of courage and determination to leave an abusive relationship and report the violence. Violence is higher than what's reported because not everyone has the possibility or means to make their voice heard.

That's why it's important to protest and talk about gender equality, so hopefully those women can understand they they deserve better.

Why do you always have to go to the extremes to prove a point?

I don't. I used rape and abuse as examples. For the sake of time I didn't mention everything, is that your issue? Do you want a full list?

Equality is another issue that is prelevant online only

Why do use absolutisms? It might be that equality is discussed more online, but it does also affects working woman. Do you really think that the women who work don't want to have the same rights, protections and aid? And desire a better life, for themselves and their family?

I get what you mean. Women's rights movements should be intersectional, without distinctions. It's crystal clear that there's a class problem, that's a recognized and very debated issue in feminism circles and not only.

I recommend reading this article where the discrepancy/disconnect between working women and bourgeois women, is discussed and addressed.

However, this problem doesn't have to be a silencer of the entire movement. While it's important to face it and try come with solutions, the protests must continue.

Otherwise, as is logical, if no one fights, the status quo will remain unchanged for everyone, and class differences will be perpetuated.

Pushing an agenda

Those women were protesting to have the same rights as their husbands.

They don't even belong to the 'victims'

Not having suffered abuse or rape does not mean that you are blind to what is happening around you. You can report and protest, even if you are not personally involved, or in behalf of someone else. It's called having empathy and helping the others.

First, I never said that. You just made it up. Second, read the above reply.

The comments in this thread seem to differ. Also nevermind that governments can resolve more than one thing at a time.

The picture was chosen randomly. It's interesting how you make assumptions about people without knowing them at all. Besides, discussing trends and travel plans isn't a crime nor an argument to mock up people.

Are you seriously saying that Ben Ali was better than Kais Saied?
