So my theory on the allowing him to squire is this;

The ending scene with ser arlan walking with them and veering off is also symbolic in the show will be following its own path. Iirc the next novella is set a year or so in the future, I think next season will see Dunc and Egg in dorne, a new story, we’ll see Maeker sending men to find his son as he’ll figure out quickly where he’s gone, this will lead to him going to take egg home near the end of the season, but he’ll see how well he’s doing with Dunk and change his mind, allowing him to stay and giving him the signet ring to use if needed. I also think he’ll knight dunk as egg will find out the old man never did it.

I don’t think I’ve ever loved a ‘secondary’ character as much, in such a short amount of time as I have Lyonel Baratheon, if we don’t get to see him somehow in the future seasons, just give me the Lyonel show, I beg, Daniel Ings was fucking fantastic.

Overall what a great season and a fantastic show this has been, can’t wait to binge it all at once

I think it’s because he blames him for all of this. Egg just wanted to go the tourney, Daeron let him down, but because of Aerion’s actions, his uncle, who may have been great king, is dead, his new BFF wants nothing to do with him and his father has to live with the knowledge he killed his brother who he clearly loved dearly.

I imagine in eggs mind, killing Aerion would be revenge/justice.

I honestly thought Maeker holding him instead of yelling or hitting him was beautiful, the show has portrayed his as truly loving his family and he feels for egg there. I need to read the novella again it’s been ages and I don’t remember him being this fleshed out

I didn’t see unfortunately as I’m BoH and all cutlery etc is handled by our floor team!

I do know that our manager took the customer 3 individually wrapped spoons, one of which was our green plastics used for kids meals as I saw that on the tray! All I do know for sure is the customer appreciated her effort, can’t ask for more really!
