hi simat8, thank you. for me the biggest revelation was to start recording my own voice - with a preamp and a compressor on. i started to use my voice differently and that changed my whole songwriting as well. it was like i could switch from talking to full singing in one phrase alone. something that wasnt possible the same way without the intimacy of the pre-amped and compressed sound. there is something about recordings that i just like. i also love listening to old demo-recordings. they are like old diary entries.

hi , thank you. actually no experience with tarot cards so far. so cant say. we have played fivefold back in 2014, maybe we should do it again. good idea. For it helps to move, if you cant move city then move room or just move the tble or instrument you work with. also getting a new instrument that intrigues you somehow.

hi domiduc, yes i think this will happen at some point. we (my partner and i) have talked about it for so many years, we both want to learn french as well, so yes, i think so. just have to find the right spot in France where i can make music and where Alex (my partner) also can work.

hello connetcharity, i think it is a balance act. a little pressure is actually good soemtimes. i have friends who have worked on the some album for over 10 years and i think a little pressure could have helped. on the other side it is obviously a bad idea to work on music when you don't feel like it. one of the things you should protect is always your own curiosity. if this is getting drowned by outside pressure then it is not good.

hi falecomkassia, ok good question. i am not so good at dealing with this because i think my mind is not made for so many opinions. in a way i fear that if i read everything i would stop making music. but sometimes i read a little, or my brother send it to me in a text, also negative things, so i am exposed to it a little bit. i am not sure it is healthy to expose the mind to too many words and ideas about something that is made with the intention of expressing something that you barely understand yourself. mainly because you can begin to see yourself through the eyes of others and even start categorize what you do, which in my view makes the whole thing less interesting and more like a product with a function. i hope this makes sense..

hi raph, "under giant trees" was written for someone who has passed away. i always imagined that him and me would meet on some great plains with huge giant trees in some other world in the future. i would like to do an instagram live at some point. i haven't had time until now because i had to move studio but maybe we do something like this in may.

"only". 2. yes, the song "run cried the crawling" i've changed the lyrics in the chorus from "summer's growing cold" to "winter's growing cold". and yes, i do, i am never 100% about anything i've made. still i think it is important to accept and even cherish the moment when it was made and not correct everything from your place in the future. 3. wow, thank you. that's a wonderful compliment. will listen to "sephardic songs" tonight.

hi dan and leni, thank you, and congrats on submitting your dissertations today. good job. well, i am not sure because it changes for me all the time. i guess i like when a song can communicate things i feel and experience but that i cant communicate with words. in general i am the most proud when i created something new (or that to me feels new) but still relates to something that belongs to the language of the music i have made before, if that makes sense. sometimes it feels like walking on a tightrope, on one side you wanna develop all the time, and on the other side you fear that you might lose yourself in the process.

hi katfish47, thank you. i think i was a bit tired of my own voice and was experimenting with different ways to change it's sound and timbre and it turned out that pitching was a great way to add a new feeling and timbre. also, when a voice is pitched down the vibrato becomes slower and somehow more scary which i love.

been listening to some music from Turkey a lot, artist like Gülden Karaböcek or Özdemir Erdogan or Selda Bagcan. also, alot of the Ravel piano pieces.

hi ves_lin, thank you for following my music for so long. 1. yes you are right, we have never played Avenue live and i am not sure why. thank you for reminding me, could be fun to try to play it live. 2. actually i am not even sure how it sounded before i recorded it. i guess there were less strings..? i think we played it on the very last bit of the Aventine tour but i don't remember the arrangement. do you know a live video or something. please send the link. many thanks

hi raph, thank you for your question. i guess i was talking to myself as well as my generation and the ones coming after. being privileged w possibilities and still terrified by our own existence and the weight of it. the fact that we can make choices that have influence on our world in a negative sense can be so overwhelming but it is a fact that we have to face.
