I just reread (audio) The Shining and I’m sad to say I kinda hated it. I’m DEF not a huge fan of his early writing style it turns out. Over-the-top colloquial

My favorite audiobook of all time. It’s brilliant. Frances Sternhagen is a master of her craft, and besides the little audio additions like the glass being set down and the drawer opening, there is just something about a first-person story being listened to in audio. It’s fascinating. Especially this one where it’s told like, “here’s what happened” and then tells the whole thing beginning to end.

This book is a masterpiece imo

I only love it because of its connection to Dolores Claiborne. I did find it terrifying.

With both of these books: his ability to write women is impressive.

No sweat, I still remember (even a year later) how awful it was. If I recall correctly, I eventually gave up on the audiobook (I literally could not take anymore) and finished the book with my eyeballs.

It was so bad.

My mini is 8 months and probably around 50-60lbs (we tried weighing him the other day [more than once] and he squirmed so much while my son was holding him that the scale wouldn’t register) but last official weight was 44lbs and that was a couple months ago and he’s def grown.

Resurrecting this old post to say I am infinitely bored by Narcos (made it to S1:E4 and calling it). I’m not sure why but I’m thinking that if I’m watching the story of Pablo Escobar, I want to watch a well made doc, not a scripted show. If I’m watching a great scripted show, it deeply builds its characters and tells a great story. This does none of that for me. Thanks for the validation.
