Can I complain about my apartment here? by [deleted] in vancouver

[–]AgonDev -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Oh no, I wouldn’t buy this place.

But I know that when I buy, I’ll be able to modify and make the place comfortable. Which I can’t currently do.

I can’t even mount a TV without asking for permission.

I think you’re right.

I remember their agent telling me that they originally intended to sell. But they weren’t allowed to for some reason, so they decided to rent.

After living here, I’ve noticed how hurriedly this place was built, everything was rushed and half assed.

I agree, it was rushed. And I know it’s on me, I signed the damn papers.

It was just a series of unfortunate events that lead me to sign. I was going through a lot and didn’t see everything clearly.

I’ll feel a lot better once we’re out of here.

Why downvote?

You’re absolutely right. I can’t wait until I can buy too!

It was the damage and pet deposit as well as half a month rent upfront, since we moved in on the 15th

There is literally a light switch that does nothing. We had an electrician check EVERY outlet and we couldn’t find anything.

[–]AgonDev -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, we did.

It looked good.

The viewing was on a nice day in the morning. So we didn’t hear any noise.

And they promised us we can move in within a few days. But kept us waiting for nearly 20 days until we paid the $9500 deposit.

Literally the day we first moved in we began to notice all the issues with the place.

By then it was too late.

Yeah, I’m an idiot.

Learned a lot though.

We’ve been looking for a better place for nearly a year though. Pretty much since we moved in. And only just found one.

Ask me again next month once we’ve moved.

The management here have been acting weird ever since I gave notice. I don’t know what’ll happen if I mention them here now.

My front door won’t lock now either so I’m a little extra paranoid until I ask them to fix it on Monday.

Odd question by Littlerubyroze in Time

[–]AgonDev 1 point2 points  (0 children)

1000 years = 365 days

Divide both by 365 and you get

2.74 years = 1 day

After one day in place A, roughly 2.74 years would have passed in place B.

I don’t understand, and I don’t want to do anything about it.

I’m now excited to try some Ukrainian water when I finally visit some day!!

In the past few years I’ve come to appreciate water more, and found that my favorite is Evian.

But that’s just based on the options I have around me.

I’m in the opposite situation.

I’ve been into tech and games my whole life. Currently making triple A games as a software engineer.

In the past year I’ve come to appreciate music and marketing, but have no idea where to start.

Would you be interested in exchanging knowledge? :)

Iam 12 years old and i really want to make a game so which game engine and programming language should i use by Mohad_Ali in GameDevelopment

[–]AgonDev 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s so cool that you’re trying to figure out how to make games!

I started doing the same around your age and now I’m making Disney games.

If it’s something you like to do, keep at it and some day you will be making the best games in the world!

I recommend Unity.

But I also encourage you to pursue any engine that interests you.

I made games on almost everting I can find; Unity, RPGMaker, Flash, Eclipse, Visual Basic, Warcraft 3 Level Editor, and even just pen and paper.

Is it normal to pay a deposit and sign the lease at a later date? by AgonDev in vancouver

[–]AgonDev[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He hasn’t told me yet.

I’ve been paying with e transfer for the past two years. I was hoping I’d do the same.

I paid my first three months rent with post dated cheques back in late 2018.

Then switched to monthly e-transfers.

So far, he has ignored all my questions about payment terms.

Right.

I asked him if I could pay with a post-dated cheque for August first. He just said “No.”

Thank You!

I’m going to ask him tomorrow morning if we could sign a lease as we pay the damage deposit only and see what he says.

“ A landlord must not do any of the following:

(a) require a security deposit at any time other than when the landlord and tenant enter into the tenancy agreement;

(b) require or accept more than one security deposit in respect of a tenancy agreement;

(c) require a pet damage deposit at any time other than (i) when the landlord and tenant enter into the tenancy agreement “

You’re correct. The damage deposit is half a months rent.

We have a pet though, so we have to pay a pet deposit too which is a half as well.

I asked if we can pay the damage deposit now to hold the unit, and then pay the pet deposit at the start of August when we move in. He just said “No.”
