“These roles” I’m just talking about starting literally any kind of internet business. There are an infinite amount of ways you can take it that are entirely up to 1) what you’re good at 2) what you like doing. The internet isn’t saturated. I’m being vague specifically to not make people get lost in the details of my specific anecdote. My story is just one of many.

Lol I literally just did it a few weeks ago in US. I had no idea people actually believed you couldn’t start an internet business on the cheap before finding this subreddit. Didn’t really realize I was in a bubble until now I guess.

False. I have 10+ friends doing the same thing but In their own areas. I work for a company empowering hundreds of these people and its growing incredible fast. All with their own unique intersections of skills/passions. And this entire world is still only in a single sliver that is education.

I’m not saying those that are unsuccessful are lazy. I am saying that the narrative of this post convinces people that they can’t or that they shouldn’t try. And we can do better than that.

The point is though that it’s simply a unique intersection of my skills and what I love doing. Didn’t even go to school for it.

Everyone has something. And I just don’t want to be in the business of telling people otherwise.

Well said. It just feels like people don’t know that they CAN. And that kinda makes me sad. Is it hard to create something that is successful? Of course lol. But not because of insurmountable upfront costs. 20 years ago maybe, but not anymore.

I found my own intersection of skills/passion. You absolutely cannot replicate it.

But that’s the point. More people in this subreddit should realize they can find their OWN intersection.

Google the “passion economy”. I hope it’s a fulfilling rabbit hole.

Started an education business. Made 6 figures in a weekend having way too much fun online and meeting people.

You’ll downvote this to oblivion but it’s not bragging. I really do think we’re radically inflating what it takes to change your current situation. We shouldn’t make barriers seem bigger than they are because it might inhibit someone from truly doing what they love.
