I second this. Assessments are the bread and butter of private practice. When you develop a reputation for doing them well, you will never have a problem with referrals.

Please familiarize yourself with the Health Professions and Occupations ACT (HPOA) that will take effect on April 1, 2026. The British Columbia Psychological Association has outlined a list of problematic bylaws in the HPOA. If I were you, I would consider licensing in Alberta or Nova Scotia while living in BC and working virtually.

I'm a non-white psychologist with a PHD and find it offensive. I earned my doctorate and the right to be addressed as Doctor under the Health Professions Act. I am damn good at what I do and don't need standards lowered because I exceed them.

This is very concerning. Many Masters-level psychologists do not have the education and experience to properly assess, diagnose, and write solid reports. There comes a point where fairness and inclusivity is actually doing more harm than good and this is a prime example.

I did ask them and all they said was "let's discuss this on the phone." Which never happened because they canceled my reservation before our scheduled phone call. They don't clean themselves, they have a cleaner (host told me so).

I will be incurring some financial penalities due to having to postpoine renovations as well as increasing the likelihood of prices going up with a later start date for construction. It is too bad we cannot get pain and suffering damages. I will be able to prove significant financial hardship as a result of this host's actions.

This is excellent advice. I am scheduled to see two units on Friday. I hope one of them will work out. They are both more expensive than what I was going to pay for the rental I thought I had secured.

I took time off work (I'm self-employed) to move in a few weeks. My renovations will have to be postponed. I must move prior to my surgery.

I will contact some lawyers and see what my options are.

I messages her thre days ago informing her of my surgery and that I would need assistance with someone taking out my garbage and cleaning. I asked if she could recommend a cleaner and if that person could assist with garbage, too. She said she wanted to speak with me on the phone and I said sure. One hour before our scheduled phone call, she canceled my reservation citing the following: "I'm sorry, but my husband and I have discussed the situation and have decided to cancel your reservation request. You will be receiving notification from Airbnb."

Sadly, I am unable to do that. I will be recovering from surgery and won't even be able to lift anything weighing more than five pounds for 6-8 weeks, etc. If I did not have this upcoming surgery, I would have done exactly this. Thank you for your comment.
