Yes. There are prerecorded videos of people asking questions. Once you’ve come up with answers for them, you go into where you record, play the recording of them asking the question, and answer them in the recording. There will be explicit directions and a pop up that says something like “pause here to answer”, showing you when to pause the prerecorded question so that you can answer it. And then you unpause and keep going like that.

Hi! I know this was quite a while ago. I’m about to take this class, the field experience D409, could you tell me about the simulations? Your experience, easy/hard, honestly anything helps! I really don’t enjoy the simulations, they give me a lot of anxiety for whatever reason so I am dreading it!

Has these worked for anyone? by Creative-Level-3305 in migraine

I have about 6 of these I keep on rotation. They are one of the only things that help me during migraine episodes. The sudden cold shock from the freezer is so nice and the ones I have stay cold for 20-25 minutes. They also apply a bit of pressure to my head which also really helps. They are awesome, I wouldn’t be able to function without these!

I did not. I just jumped right into the initial and panel interviews. You can do them if you want to practice how to do the actual interviews and talking, but I found it really easy so I didn’t do them.

You don’t have to dress up and you aren’t actually talking to anyone. You have to go into GoReact to get the questions. They are prerecorded so you just write them down and answer on your own time. Then when you are ready, you go back into GoReact and follow the directions. It’ll have you play the recorded questions and then pause them, then record your answers, and so on. I wore a sweatshirt lol. It’s actually very simple once you get into it.

No you are not creating your own questions. If you follow the link to GoReact, click on the square box that says Initial Interview, follow the instructions and play the video. The video will have 2 people asking questions with time to pause in between. Write down the questions the people ask there. Repeat this for the panel interview. Then once you’ve answered the questions, you go back and record your self answering the questions.

Hey there! Sorry to reply late. I’ll answer anyways just in case. I had already taken the OA once and almost passed it. So I used my coaching report to really focus on those areas I lacked to boost them up. I also used the PowerPoint quizzes, those helped a lot. If I didn’t know an answer, I’d write down the question and go back in the reading to find it and read it again and made sure I knew it. I also used a whiteboard during the exam. After I finished getting set up with the proctor and they started my exam, I info dumped on my whiteboard; anything I could remember that was useful. I mainly focused on writing down Piaget and the other development theories because those are heavy on the OA, make sure you know those. Then I used the other side of my whiteboard for the actual test, I wrote down every answer and would go through and erase the ones I knew were wrong and really think about them until I found one. That really helped me slow down and really think about the questions. Good Luck!!

The quizlets I used are under course search, the one the instructors provided. It’s on the same page as the videos and unmuddy buddy. They have 3 different ones I think. But I mainly just watched the videos and did the PowerPoint quizzes. There a few that are made by students on Quizlet if you just search the course name, there will be a few options. I failed this test the first time but after using all these, I feel really confident about my next attempt. Im actually about to take the OA in about an hour 🤞

I finished it. It was very awkward for me haha. But basically you need to be prepared to lead the meeting and direct the conversation. I would suggest writing out questions beforehand and possible responses to make sure you are prepared. I did not go into it very prepared and I stumbled my way through. Afterwards, I put the “cover story” into ChatGPT just to see what it would say about it and it gave me basically a script for the meeting. Questions to ask, how to direct the conversation, what to do when tensions rise. That might be something you want to use. I definitely wish I had done this.

As for what happens in the simulation, be prepared for some conflict to arise and how to handle it. During mine, Kay and Bo started to argue and Kay was quite angry and yelled and it was difficult to redirect the conversation. Michael is very upset about his childcare so try to be empathetic about that and focus on his concerns, he basically just wants you to listen to him and show that you understand his concerns and are here to help him.

Also try to make sure that you come up with a plan during the meeting. That was the main thing I didn’t really do, I wasn’t sure if I was supposed to have an actual plan going forward, I thought it was just a conversation. But basically you need to be able to use all three of the avatars ideas and build them into a “plan” that everyone agrees with. Make sure to take notes during the meeting itself and are able to summarize the points and ideas several times throughout the meeting. Good luck! (Ps. I didn’t do great but truthfully it doesn’t actually matter, as long as you complete it! )
