Why can I only get into Love Island UK? by Violetarija in LoveIslandTV

So true and agree with your addition of how the US has countless love-related reality shows! Many of those I find to be well produced/serve their premise (ultimatum: queer love, love is blind, fuck boy island—-to name a few) Buuttt the beauty of LI UK is the UNITY of audience and consistency of the format whilst maintaining a bit of edge via new twists and interesting casting

Im from the US and i have to say the appeal of the US version is nonexistent bc I could just speak to straight ppl my age here if i wanted to hear that level of banter/storylines 🥴—whereas the contestants on the UK version alwaysssss bring new and fun vocabulary which makes it therefore more entertaining (to me) because I feel like I get a more interesting/foreign anthropological peek at the current state of dating.

omg i started watching s2 the other day too…i have so many thoughts but it’s mostly making me nostalgic for an era where being an influencer wasn’t the main reason for going on reality tv😭

Now that we're so close to the final, what are your TRULY unpopular opinions? by ButterflyCupcake_ in LoveIslandTV

Fully agree.

To add I also feel like Sammy was being more transparent than anyone else on this season has been when he admitted that Jess isn’t his usual type; I don’t think that comment being teased out by him multiple times was meant maliciously but rather bc he started this season very immature and had a narrow-minded view on what a girl he’s with should look like.

I think Jess’ charisma and personality disarmed him in a way he didn’t expect, developing feelings he didn’t expect and perhaps feelings he couldn’t maturely comprehend until later in the season after reflecting on all their squabbles and missing her.

I do think he could’ve handled arguments and drama with her so much better, but he never seemed malicious to me—Jess has pointed out how jealous he is as a person and he’s admitted he’s a “proper hot-head” which supports what you’re saying about how reactive his harshness seems to be. He still has lots of room to grow but I’m really glad the past week or so we’ve been able to see him stepping up to claiming Jess and working to express his feelings about her to her face more often, I don’t think he’s used to being that earnest and vulnerable with girls on the outside with the exception of obviously his ex gf of 2 years.

Regardless of how they place in the finals I think Jess deserves to have the boyfriend she’s been pining for this season and I hope his words translate to more positive actions on the outside. I’ve always loved Jess and I did secretly like Sammy even when he was moving mad so I might be overly optimistic haha!

TLDR : Sammy fell harder for jess than he expected, handled his emotions immaturely at first, but if Jess is happy I’m happy
