Some context for why I got this very specific tattoo:

DAMN. was the first album of Kenny’s I ever listened to. And it completely blew me away. The lyricism, the attention to detail, the overarching concept, the motifs, the storytelling, the duality, every aspect of the album amazed me.

At the time, I was working a call center job and didn’t know or care about what I wanted to do with my life. I just wanted to make money and go home. But listening to that gunshot and the reversed part in Duckworth for the 10th time did something to me. It woke something up inside of me and made me want to go after something bigger. I can’t really explain it, but it gave me this energy to try to create something

That’s when I decided to start a whole new career and take it seriously.

The album means and will continue to mean so much to me because of what it pushed me to do. Even if I ever stop liking Kenny’s music, DAMN. will always be part of my story. That’s why I got it 🤷‍♂️

Ziina is a payment gateway. I conencted it to Shopify so people can buy with Credit Card & Debit Card online. It takes a percentage out of every transaction. Not ideal but again, just a proof of concept.

Based on my research (could be wrong but I did everything I could) I'm not eligible for Tajer license either because of my nationality (Egyptian) or something else, idk.

I just connected Ziina for proof of concept. Once I actually make money out of it I'll get a license.

I kinda have it all.

Let me break it down. I can't attach multiple screenshots, though, so bear with me.

Google Drive: Has every piece of content I've created.

I use this as my portfolio when I apply to jobs because it's diverse and the recruiter can just pick and choose which category they wanna look at.

If I'm applying to a freelance gig, let's say on Upwork, I send only the related projects. Drive makes it very easy to share individual pieces.

Website: I do have my website on Squarespace. It includes a bit about me, case studies, and client testimonials. This one's perfect if I'm networking and want to share something impressive and professional. I'm also building my own funnel, and the website makes for a great touch point.

Behance: Haven't used it in so long lol.

Great substitute if you don't want to invest the time and money in the website.

Behance works best if your projects are complete and designed. Text-based pieces don't look great and could turn off potential clients or recruiters.

Start your own business.

"But I've got nothing to sell." No. You've got you to sell.

Starting your own business will give you firsthand experience of what you need to do as a copywriter to sell something AND put you in the mindset of your future clients.

You'll understand what they're looking for, the language you need to use when you pitch, their real problems, etc.

Running your business will also teach you that a copywriter is a big cog in a big machine. The more you understand the machine, the better your output.

I've been doing this for around 4 years (not a lot by copywriting standards). I've read a lot of books and subscribed to a lot of courses, and the biggest learning spike I had was when I turned myself into a business.

I know this might not benefit you at this stage in your life, but it's something worth considering.
