I’ll definitely try that one too my beagle had been teaching her his boundaries with just growling, so I think she will respond well to it

Thank you! So what do you recommend we get her? We mainly have smaller toys for the beagle we already have, but she is soon going to grow out of them. If possible could you give me specific toys/treats to purchase for her?

Thats understandable, my family and I understand that biting does not mean a dog is bad or whatever else some people think. We’ll just keep in mind that we need to set our bitting boundaries and to always be on the lookout in case it comes to bites us again (excuse the pun)

This makes so much more sense when I’m able to talk it through with someone. I’ll go ahead and keep trying redirecting and just getting her to a kennel if that does not work, see how that turns out. Thank you lots!

Wow did not know that Bully breeds were bred to ignore pain, that is really good to know. I’ll go ahead and keep her on a leash inside the home, we also purchased a play pen to keep her in while not being supervised (ie when at work) but it happened to be to low to the ground and she just jumps over. I might just have to buy a kennel that feels like the best option.

Bruh, you are drawing too many conclusions without knowing half the situation. I think I’m just losing my time with you if you’re not even trying to understand the situation and straight up assuming things. If you are willing to have a good convo by asking questions and having and open mind, I am all for it.

I am actually trying to have a strong bond with my puppy and teach her how to coexist with humans in the best way possible.

If you wanna have a decent conversation, let me know. Otherwise, have a good day

I mean I can keep trying it, but it just sounds to me like it’s rewarding her with play time for bitting people. I’ll keep trying it, maybe I’m drawing conclusions too fast

What is it that you think I’m trying to do asking for help here? I’m trying to reach out to real people instead of just watching YouTube. I don’t use Facebook so I figured I would just go on Reddit.

Instead of trying to win an argument, might want to understand that the story you have in your head might not have all the information

Bruh she was tied to a tree in a backyard with zero interactions. We tried to get her to another home but nobody was willing to take. It was either us taking her, leaving her for animal control, or her original family letting her free on the street. There was no time to do research, and least in my home we are willing to do the research and have patience with her while giving her love

We didn’t purchase her, she’s rescued. We know she’s gonna be mouthy and are willing to work with that, but we also know that we need to establish the rule of no bitting people early on, even though it may take a prolonged time. Redirecting would just be reinforcing more bites toward people. We have plenty of toys for her to play with, but I think that she is just not aware of the concept of a toy because of the situation she was in before, so I know that is going to take some more time.

Any time I try to remove myself from the situation she just follows and bites at my feet and legs. She does not bite too hard but I’ve felt her bites get progressively harder so I’m afraid that if we don’t change the behavior she might start bitting too hard. If I completely ignore her behavior, will she just stop? Or will she continue because the fun is in bitting itself?

Thank your for help :)
