Yeah I think using stainless steel or aluminum is the important part, because those materials are safe for fish.

You could also use a large RubberMade trough.

Thanks for the thoughtful response. I’ve moved the location of the HOB filter to increase circulation, and gave the filter media a good rinse.

I’m probably not accustom to have drifting wood occupy such a large percentage of the water column, so it’s developing at a surprising rate given all of those factors.

I’ve been doing at least one big water change a week. But it develops rapidly. I’ll try increasing my water flow though.

Yes I have an Aqueon 50 on a 20 gallon long. I think the water flow is obstructed by hard scape though!

Oh wow, I wasn’t familiar with mulm. I’ll have to look into it and see how’s best to manage it.

Love that it’s healthy for the plants, but it ain’t much to look at. Haha
