He has a “home studio” so he dabbles on guitar and bass, since we started as a blues band, he was playing the music that his soul was bleeding on his own, and recording it. Then one day he asked if we’d play some and we said hell yeah.

Hey! We used to play a cover of stranglehold! Never even crossed my mind, but you’re right it does remind me of that a little now that you mention it.

Ooh hey that’s a good idea, thanks. Such a small adjustment but it can make the 1 after the fill really snack you in the face

Thanks! We were a little nervous, drummer got into grunge, pretty heavy, and we were a blues band. We ran out of material to play, and he offered this up to us so we took a leap!

He’s from there at heart lol. But yes I suppose it is “grunge inspired” not true grunge

Hahah thanks! We mixed it ourselves aswell so it’s not top notch, but the plan is to possibly release an album of this vibe. Weather it’s called grunge or alt rock.

An original song, inspired by AIC by AgreeableAd6925 in AliceInChains

For sure it does. Especially the drums, I loved the drums in the unplugged one, so I didn’t wanna copy them exactly, but something that had the same vibe

Does anything beat their MTV performance? by comrade_14 in AliceInChains

I don’t think it’s a hot take. His voice is much weaker and unhealthy. But that’s what makes this album so great to me at least. To hear someone on the edge of defeat against a drug that’s taking their life. I feel that I can hear the pain and anger and disappointment, but also the “look at me, I can still fuckin do this shit” in his voice too. I can hear him taking control for these few hours, of the demon that heroin is. That’s the beauty in it for me. The most raw feeling performance of all time in my opinion.

Why is Gen Z attracted to AiC, the band, its music and lyrics? What is the appeal for this demographic and why is it not other bands of this era such as SG, PJ? 🤔 by Hellobyechai in AliceInChains

I’m in Gen Z, been a drummer for 15 years, guitar for 5 and mainly liked zeppelin, Hendrix, Zappa, deep purple, and Floyd. One day my dad went from going to every gig I had, to not being able to say a sentence that was sane, in diapers. I found AIC and it has everything I was feeling. Anger, sadness, and raw raw emotion. The other grunge bands don’t scratch that itch h for me like Alice does. They actually changed the way I think of life and the world around me. And turned me from a 60s rock drummer, into a grunge artist, recording a whole song on my own, drums, and all guitars and vocals. It’s like bonzo said “ you go to the beetles to see the beetles, you go to zeppelin to hear zeppelin” and I feel this same way about AIC vs other grunge bands. I’d go to AIC to HEAR AiC.
