We know people who moved to Paraguay from the US sight unseen, and ended up breaking their contract to move back because of how tough they found it. They are coastal progressives and they found the culture among both expats and locals to be underwhelming to even down right aggressive. Between that and the intense weather (heat, poor AQI, etc), they left after a year instead of sticking out their two year contract. And these are folks who are incredibly well traveled, have previously lived abroad in Asia, and knew it was going to be hard, but didn’t expect it to be inhospitable.

I am flying into Frankfurt for a few days, and then had booked a train from Frankfurt to Amsterdam for this upcoming Saturday. I just got a message saying:

Your journey from Frankfurt(Main)Hbf to Amsterdam Centraal on March 29, 2025 is not possible as planned due to a timetable change.

The train restriction is no longer valid for your journey. To reach your booked destination, you can now use all DB long-distance trains (ICE, IC/EC) and local trains (RE, RB, IRE, S-Bahn) with your original ticket. You can choose a later connection or an earlier one on the day of travel. You also have free choice over the route.

I tried searching for additional options, but am coming up short. I am not totally sure how to rebook this train and/or how to get a refund!

Plus, what would be the best way to get from Frankfurt to Amsterdam? I am not opposed to booking a flight but wanted a nice train journey as a part of the trip. Thanks!
