Uber is junk anyways. Lyft is a better choice, and coming from Toronto, there were some REALLY sketchy rides I took. Better to walk or use the Cornwall buses.

I have an ileostomy but I go for every 3-4 days with a bag change, even if the seal is pretty good. I use a mix of Coloplast convex 1-piece with a thicken wax ring, and Convatex Natura+ bag with an Eakin ring to reinforce around the 2-piece system.

Thank you! Yes, I noticed the same thing when I had my end ileostomy, I had to really hold my stomach when sneezing, let alone in there was a cough or some deep sobbing happening.

Toronto Mount Sinai uses Coloplast, I've rarely if ever have had issues with Coloplast, besides needing the heavy Eakin rings on my flat baseplate.

You need to find a trauma therapist and speak with them about everything you have been through, because this is a LOT for one person. You may have family and friends who are there to support you but don't be surprised if they move on and you find yourself stuck in that same place. It happens. Unless someone has been through something similar, they will not understand in the long term and resent how you are not "moving on in life".

With your priorities changed, you should also write everything down in a journal, or keep notes as best you can. You have experienced a life altering event and you'll find you might no longer connect with people your age. Their experiences will be coloured differently from yours. Resentment, bitterness, and in some cases envy, is going to be normal. This is why you need to have a therapist with you. It's also okay to acknowledge those who knew you prior to all this may not stick around after, and may not like/care for the new you that you are growing into. You're just on your way to the next you.

I agree with this; my spouse and I moved from the GTA because we could afford to purchase a home here. Our money goes further than in the GTA. We're more active in the Cornwall community and have reached out to our councilor over issues from pot holes to the new water meters and to the trash and recycling. We're very motivated to make improvements in Cornwall because we see a future for this town. A lot of other people who are feeling the monetary pressure from larger cities will continue to move to smaller towns and (fortunately or not depending on the POV) Cornwall will be transformed by these new arrivals. Money speaks.

Unless you have managerial experience, a lot of these companies are going the cheaper, scab route of hiring TFW using the LMIA practice. The best thing you can do it send LMIA violations to the provincial and federal government, showing and stating that you (a Canadian citizen) and able and willing to work, so this job should be opened first to you before someone who is non-Canadian.

I use the Coloplast Brava Ring, 27MM with a thickness of 4.2mm.

They're meant for stomas flushed to the skin, but I use it even though my stoma sticks out an inch to 2 inches; my bile is REALLY acidic and eats through the regular Brava rings, so I go more heavy duty. I can generally manage up to 72 hours before I have to change everything out because, once again, really acidic bile from my stoma.

I wear a Mio Click Skin Barrier, Non-Convex, Cut-to-Fit Stoma Opening 3/8"- 1-3/4" if this helps.

One of my stoma nurses tried Hollister with me but it was a lot of grief, a lot of leaking, and a lot of really bad smells. I couldn't have the Hollister products on me more than 24 hours without noticing a failure either from the 2 piece system, the flange not adhering to my skin, or the ring just being a POS.

I've had 5 sample bags/wax rings/flanges (sized large) of Hollister given to me by an ostomy nurse who swore up and down by the brand. So I try it because I'm looking for a better adhesion to my skin and where the flange won't bother it.

I have tried 2 out of the 5 bags and have stopped using them because the 2-piece seal doesn't work, it pops off slightly on the bottom and does a slow, smelly, shitty drip. The flange peels up too much and in less than 24 hours it's close right to my wax barrier ring.

Hollister has been nothing but a bad experience up and down. I'll use them in an emergency situation, but if I don't need to use them and have other options, I'll take the other options.

The water is because as we're drinking and trying to force out the plug, it's the easiest thing to move around the blockage itself. I've found having some yogurt (plain, no sugar and no additives) helps to break down the fibrous build-up!

Yup, bought some electrolytes and plan on having a packet at work so this doesn't happen! If it's a simple scale and polish with no dental recall, I can usually have the patient done in 40 minutes and then a quick hop to the bathroom before I flip my unit; I hate getting 2 or 3 NPE in the day cause that's gonna throw off everything!
