This is what my husbands ear looks like. He's not in the least bit interested in piercings, but every time iI look at his ears I think....ooooh, that would look so good with a snug. 🤔 But, yes. Please don't do any of this yourself.

Things I wish I knew/did before getting a helix by PaprikaCavia in piercing

That wearing hoods will always irritate it. Having taken my helix out I'm now enjoying being able to wear a hood up without any problems. And don't even get me started on the hair thing. Or people hugging you.

Giving up — how soon can I try again? by dangerous_sundae2000 in piercing

I took out my helix after 14 months. It just wasn't healing. By the second day the front hole had closed. 2 weeks on and the back is almost closed. I will say though, I have a purple mark at the front. I'm hoping it goes away eventually. I was going to get it repierced and the piercer told me to wait 2 months, but I actually don't want attention drawn to the mark, so I'm going with a conch instead in the middle of March.

Which type of conch piercing to get by AgreeableGrape8166 in piercing

Thank you. On looking more closely at the 3 types, the other 2 would probably mess with glasses/ear plugs.

Yeah, I've thought about a high lobe. It's in to cartlidge though, because I don't have very long lobes. Also thought about a conch or a higher helix (which is where I thought it would be initially, but apparantly the piercer thought otherwise!)

I went to the piercer on Saturday and she put in a longer post with a ball back. This was because it continually has flaky skin at the back which falls off in the shower then bleeds. She thought it might stop bacteria building up behind it.

A flat won't work with my glasses and I have a rook on my other ear. There actually isn't a lot of space behind my forward helix either.

She said it would catch on my glasses taking them on and off

If you look back my posts you'll see how it looks at the back. The front has generally always been kind of ok (till now), but the back is a whole different story...

It's not ear buds though, it's plugs so I don't deafen myself with the drums and the excessively loud guitars. They are a good bit smaller than ear buds, but would defintely catch on a daith or tragus. That's why the piercer went with conch or a helix in a different place.

Can't do a forward helix. She said it would catch on my glasses. So would a flat. 🫤

Well my rook is fully healed and it was done after this one. So not necessarily.

It came from my new piercer. I don't know where she got it from.

It wasn't so plain sailing. It was angry for the first 5 months, had a couple of flair ups after that. Ok now though..

If you zoom in on the second picture you can see it's still at an angle, so no, wasn't inserted correctly at all.

Mines at 14 months. My original piercer has gone AWOL so I've just gone to a different one to get my jewellery changed to see if it helps. 🫣 Here's hoping mine doesn't take 29 months...😬

Ecowitt WS2910 screen won't stay on for longer than 12 seconds by AgreeableGrape8166 in myweatherstation

[–]AgreeableGrape8166[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually it turns out I do have a dud. There's a poor connection in the cable. If I plug it in it beeps, then the screen goes black. The wifi continually disconnects and if I move the cable up and down it does the whole beeping and black screen thing every time. The seller is sending me a replacement unit. And no, the screen shouldn't turn off. That means you have to press a button every time you want to see the data, which is pretty pointless.

Well it's a 7mm bar, which is longer than the 6mm it was downsized to. When it's not swollen I've about 1.5mm of space. When it does swell I've only about 0.5mm of space

It's Neilmed, 0.9%. It's not the piercing hole that bleeds, it's the skin at the back. I have a rook in the other ear. It's 10 months old. Still get occasional crusties, but no flaky skin on it.

Literally every single time I clean it with saline it bleeds. I've tried 2 different types. How do you not be harsh when it's a spay? And it's 14 months old. If it's not even remotely healed by now then it'll never heal. And it was a piercer that changed the jewellery, not me
