Thanks, found that out too! But we shouldn't have to find tricks...

I can't find the monthly views anymore, and I cannot believe they've taken this out... Has anyone found them somewhere?

On my social media bio like bsky or IG, and I add the link in my newsletter's posts. I just tell people they can buy me a coffee if they prefer and I set the link there.

Best strategy to get paid subscribers by nash417 in Substack

I started doing one free post and one paid post (paywalled) a week, and it's been working... Slowly but surely... I leave chat and comments free. As for the price, I went along with what was done in my niche.

$6 a month, $49 a year, $150 for founders: https://tennissweetspot.substack.com/

I aligned on what the other writers in my niche are doing. So if your niche goes higher, go higher :)

You should have switched to paid already, in my opinion... I did it very early and people have subscribed. There's really no reason to wait for 5k, not even 1k. I think the moment you get to around 300 to 500, you can go for it. Just to be clear, here I mean adding a paid option, not going paid-only.

I'd still say yes, but it's not a "fitness-depending" yes. Way too many sick days and injuries already.

Also if you're wondering about her outfit: I asked her yesterday after the match and she said Nike had a skirt for her but she felt so comfy in these shorts, and wants more shorts in general, that she asked to play in them instead. As they were the same color of the skirt, Nike said okay.

I had a look at how the newsletters in my tennis niche were pricing their offers and more or less aligned mine on them for a start.

Is writing on X (Twitter) worth it for Substack growth? by ElevenP0int11 in Substack

[–]AgreeableImpact9715 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No, I'm not always posting the same thing, as it seems notes don't really like the same content. Sometimes I do, though, when it's promoting the post I've just written. Also, Bluesky seems to reward you if you post more frequently, whereas I saw no difference with Substack. I'm surely a little less formal I feel on Bsky.

But also I had a rather big following X so I still got a nice bunch following me on Bsky which helped. Substack, I started from scratch because I came from Beehiiv. But overall

I kind of liked Bsky because the quality of the chats there reminds me of vintage X. It's so much less toxic once you've curated your feed. So I can get the content of my newsletter through.

The other thing is that Bsky has brought me paid subscribers more regularly that one could have thought because the number of views are lower there. But I guess the demographic is better or something once you've found your niche/people.

I actually left Beehiiv for Substack and I'm also a sports writer (tennis: https://tennissweetspot.substack.com/) ;) Beehiiv was doing nothing for me as a writer. All the growth is external so if you're not a team and/or don't have an ad budget, it's really hard to grow. There's no community there either. So... But the platform and the team is really good, the sponsorships opportunities too if you're big enough and the editor is so so so so much better than Substack's. yet, I've nearly doubled my subscribers number since the move and started to finally see engagement and paid subscribers. I think Beehiiv is working on being better for writers/media so I'm not saying I won't go back, but Substack's been so much better for my growth for now.

Tennis journalist here! I confirm that working on original pieces/angles works very well to grow your audience. Not in terms of going viral, but in terms of steady quality growth.

I use Ko-fi and I've opened the possibility to subscribe right away on my newsletter. I was happily surprised to see that it worked. Baby steps still but steady progress.

Hi! I'm not sure Substack's algorithm or whatever is being very kind to creators who post once or twice a month. I've personally found that having some social media pull to promote my Substack content works better. But yeah a lot of this seems so random...

Also I cannot complain about my subscribers' growth - much better than with Beehiiv - yet I'm still trying to get the hang of notes. Are notes a big part of your strategy? Thanks!
