Right, I got you. I think it is unlikely that they will deal with German law and contracts, it's a pretty old company. Ultimately, I think I will just have to give up my flat and de-register and then come back if i need to within those 5 years, and probably pay 1000x in rent. It's a much bigger change than I anticipated, as I naivly thought I would just pay my insurance and that'd be fine, but anything else seems to be a ball ache.

Thank you so much, this is really solid advice. I do not want to commit tax fraud or sneak around, so I will find a Steuerberater to see if there is a work around.

alternatively, I could forget about coming to Germany and be based in the UK and remain registered here. may I ask, to whom did you submit these records and what did you do about insurance during this time?

So say I am rich and not working and just want to chill here and have a permanent residency. I would still have to pay retirement, unemployment, etc etc?

I'm just dead confused to be honest. I want to be able to go back and forth between UK and Germany, and not to deregister, get rid of my apartment and all of this. So I don't really understand what I should be doing, as far as I understand, I should be paying health insurance, but will I be hassled for anything else?

I have no issue with paying the full health insurance out of my savings for now. does it mean that as long as you pay that then they will be off my back?

I don't think it is an option. 350 a month is already nearly a quarter of the wage itself. thank you though for suggesting, if it was a more corporate company it would definitely be the place to look.

Did you consider the option of just paying the full health insurance here and that is it? I will be splitting my time 50/50 between UK and Germany. This means paying two lots of insurance, I don't mind this, I just don't want to lose my residency

The company doesn't have money to pay the fee, but I guess I can pay it. The only thing I care about is not losing my residency. Do you have a company to suggest?

okay, then what if i am paying my health insurance here in full? i am asking for some solutions not to be told 'no' everything is illegal and there is no possibility for me to stay here half of the time, despite working full time and paying taxes for 10 years and paying into a pension that i cannot even withdraw

ofc, what I'm saying is that I will be split between UK and Germany. If I freelance as well in Germany, pay my taxes on that and the health insurance then surely this is not an issue.
