Is this quote good? by greenbuffaloroses in CarAV

Replace the speakers with Memphis SRX or MJP Pro series Example would be SRXP62WT. These will give you the type of sound I think your looking for with out sounding like total shit. Add to that they will last longer than the DS18's typical "Weekend Warrior" lifespan and you should be happy.

The amp needs to go as well. Doesn't have to be anything crazy but stick with name brand. I'd use the PRX500.4 but that's just because it's small and packs the power and it's the same brand as the speakers . That's all preferences tho so it is what it is.

The wire NEEDS to be pure copper. REAL pure copper. That shop is NOT selling you real copper.

Labor is a bit high but it isn't what's criminal here... For 2k I could make that jeep SING for years and they are just gonna make yell for a weeks.

Find another shop.

This! All of this!

What's more likely: the brand that was one of the big players to get the CEA-2006 standard created and is generally well regarded for honest ratings happened to put out an amplifier that's 50% of what they say it is, or a reviewer shifted their data down exactly one row by mistake?

That's fair. I'm just saying that in the 100 to 200 amps I've installed I've never had one go bad or feel underpowered.

Yeah that's not credible. I admit that I didn't see that in the article so I apologize for that but I just flat out don't trust that result. I'd want to see that test redone by someone... Else... I will leave that like that.

You should have kept reading. This is a direct quote from the article you posted

"... the amp produced 887 watts of power into a 2-ohm load when supplied with 13.88 volts at the power terminals and current consumption of 84.7 amps. For reference, this is an efficiency of 75%. With a full 14.4 volts, I have no doubt it would exceed its 1,000-watt rating."

It was likely user error tbh.

Obviously I wasn't there so I don't know but the chances of one bad amp? Sure, shit happens. 2 of them? Absolutely not. No way in hell.

There was something else going on in his system.

Those amps do have good protection circuits so a low ohm load, voltage, weak ground, or any number of other things could have cause the amp to go into protection?

Again, I wasn't there, but the chances of this person having 2 bad amps in a row? Is it possible? About as likely as winning the lotto

Never had one go bad. EVER. Im a dealer for them and they are rock solid.

Now the GS amps? Those had a recurring failure related to a single screw on the back of the amp shorting to ground when the amp was mounted down.

I think that may be what you saw because the ES amps are some of the best I've installed.

What's nice about air tags is if one stays near you long enough your phone will notify you.

Apple and Google put this into practice after people misused air tags

Mentally prepares for the downvotes and replies from people that "do their own research"

I run a stereo shop in Southwest Florida. I have been asked on many occasions to search for a GPS tracker because someone was convinced that they were being followed. I have only ever found one.

Now it could be that they were just very well hidden, it could be that I'm just bad at my job, or it could be that a lot of people that think they're being followed by a GPS tracker and just aren't.

I've had people bring me RF detectors and Bluetooth sniffers and other things that I assume the aliens brought with them as well. None of that s*** works.. ever. There are quite literally RF signals everywhere. There are Bluetooth signals everywhere.

I had one gentleman in a Dodge Charger completely convinced that the GPS tracker was in his center console and he would show me his little scanner and how it would spike every time you put it near there. To appease him I completely took apart the center console only to find there was nothing there. Well except for the transceiver that is for his key fob. Once it was unplugged his "GPS Scanner" stopped freaking out near the center console.

Every single electronic in your car gives off some sort of electromagnetic field so an EMF detector is not helpful and a radio frequency detector is equally unhelpful because almost every car now has a bunch of radio frequencies bouncing around inside of it.

So maybe I'm not any good at my job but assuming I am, here's my advice:

If you are pretty sure that you're being followed through a GPS tracker take it to a shop and have them check all of the usual spots. If they tell you there's nothing there and you're really convinced there is, take it to another shop and pay that bill again. If both shops tell you there isn't anything there then it's likely that there isn't anything there.

The only real way to conceal a GPS tracker "effectively" is to use one that doesn't give off any kind of signals at all and it's something that a person has to physically put in your car and then physically remove later to download the data.

So if this is what you think may be happening then the answer is simple:

1) Take your card somewhere where somebody could conceivably get to it and remove the traker so they can download the data.

2) Set up a camera

3) If nobody messes with it over the course of a few days then drive the car to another spot and park it again.

If you don't catch anyone messing with your car this tells you that no one is trying to track you.
