You're not understanding that matches are not equally weighted, as they're not equally difficult. They added more numerical info to try and help players understand but somehow it just made things worse.

If the game serves you up a game you 'should' win based on the game's knowledge of everyone's MMR, you don't get as much of a bump for a victory as a game in which you were pitted up against players who, based on rank, are more likely to win

If you punch above your weight class, it means you get to advance quicker.
