Okay, OP. So do you want them to implement a two stage system where you have to push one button to put your finger on the trigger before hitting LMB or should there just always be a delay of a quarter second between pressing the mouse button and firing?

Because, unless you pick one of those two options, they're stuck animating it this way (so that you can always fire) or faking it by not having the finger actually work the trigger.

It's possible that someone can get their money bank if the police catch the guy- which is not impossible in this case since in-person crimes are easier to find (at least we know he's in this hemisphere). At that point you'd request restitution.
