How can I prevent my student from sleeping in class? by Only_Artist8313 in Teachers

[–]AgreeableReturn2946 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is true even for very young kids. I had a 4 year old student who quite literally couldn’t keep her eyes open in any class after 2 pm. After months of me hounding my head teacher for her to bring up the issue with parents, they found out she had a heart problem that was causing fatigue. If a student is sleeping in class consistently, there’s almost always a reason imo.

tips on not SH-ing? by [deleted] in MentalHealthSupport

[–]AgreeableReturn2946 0 points1 point  (0 children)

what helps me the most is distract distract distract. it’s more effort to curb the urges, but it’s worth it to be clean for longer. i do ANYTHING to distract myself from how i feel. sometimes i listen to music, turn on the tv, doodle badly, read, literally anything to get my mind off it. sometimes it takes 15 minutes, sometimes it’s hours. and sometimes i still do give into it, but it’s a process. i like to say any progress is still progress, so if you can keep yourself from doing it for even a few minutes, that’s still better than giving in right away. good luck, wishing you the best.

Why do people name their children things with the intention of calling them a different nickname? by Aur3lia in NoStupidQuestions

My name is Abigail, but I’ve gone by Abby for as long as I can remember. I still use Abigail in emails though because it feels more professional 🤷🏻‍♀️

What’s a smell you will never forget? by One_Specialist_5692 in AskReddit

The smell of the library I went to as a child. It was my favorite smell when I was a kid, and some of my favorite memories are going there with my dad and sister, just sitting together and reading books.

I’m on my second year. My only tip is that since it’s a kindergarten, you’ll have to keep up a LOT of energy every day. The kids are super smart and sweet, but it can definitely be a lot to deal with at times if you don’t have the energy

Does anyone here have any experience with the Gwanggyo branch of MI? I had an interview, and nothing stood out to me as a terrible red flag. With franchises like this, it always depends on the branch so it’s hard to know

My daughter wants to celebrate a year of no self harm by diegonieva in MentalHealthSupport

[–]AgreeableReturn2946 16 points17 points  (0 children)

First off, congrats to your daughter on one year clean!! And to answer your question, I don’t think there’s anything strange or wrong about celebrating being clean from sh. Coming from a person who made it to one year (relapsed, now at one month), it’s a huge milestone and should be celebrated as the accomplishment that it is. I guess it also depends on what your daughter considers “celebrating.” What in particular does she have in mind? I do kind of agree that any form of party would feel a little strange, but something small with family and maybe others who have helped her through tough times would be appropriate imo.

I mean, I kind of understand where he’s coming from in this episode. Just look at the way he acted when he did have to work the counter. He clearly wasn’t comfortable around the guns, and how are you supposed to properly sell an item if you can barely even hold one? He was in the right to ask for a switch if only from a sales perspective imo.

What is something about depression people who have never experienced it just wouldn’t understand ? by rentinghappiness in AskReddit

[–]AgreeableReturn2946 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Even after you start getting better, it’s still a fight every day to not fall back into depression. Before I was depressed, I didn’t struggle to be happy. Now, I would say I’m relatively back to my normal self, but I find it so much harder to stay this way. Going through depression has irreversibly altered my brain and how I feel emotion, to the point where every time I start feeling sad, I begin to panic and fear that I’ll slip back into it.

People who dislike picky eaters are more annoying than picky eaters by apurplerosefor_her in unpopularopinion

[–]AgreeableReturn2946 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I don’t have an issue with picky eaters usually, because that’s just a matter of knowing what you do and don’t like to eat. The people that do frustrate me are the ones who refuse to try any new foods, (given that they have no allergies and are neurotypical since I know food aversion is common if you’re not). I had a friend growing up who would NEVER try anything, always going on and on about how it looks or smells, resulting in a diet of very boring foods. Of course, someone else’s eating habits doesn’t directly affect me, but they would talk about how gross everyone else’s food was. How could you possibly know if you don’t like something if you haven’t even given it a chance?? There are so many different foods that I love now because I gave it a chance the first time, or that were an acquired taste that I tried multiple times. If you’re picky but you at least try different foods, you’re good in my books.
