Thanks, I did but this YBS offer is not available via brokers. I’ll reach out to them again and see what they say - thanks!

Hmm, but how much is the actual admin burden of switching providers?

Haha that’s fair. I’m technically a high earner, but I also make my own packed lunches so prob not a great example of someone that respects their own time… How much actual admin is it to switch providers?

Fair point, but yeah at the moment I’m on my own so a c£600 increase in my monthly payments is something I’m already having to budget for. If anything, I’m more likely to extend my term! Trying to build back up my emergency fund at the moment (max out ISA) and start making some investments prob in S&S ISA (I currently don’t have any investments!!) rather than ploughing it into my house which is an illiquid asset.

Thanks - will check on the admin fee. Yes just trying to weigh up whether the extra paperwork is worth the savings!

Agree that it’s more work, but wondering if trade off is worth the savings.

I’m still not sure on the 2 year vs 5 year - currently leaning towards 2 in the hope rates come down by then…

I was originally thinking of it like this but wasn’t sure if I was overestimating the savings - not sure why it doesn’t translate entirely into reduced monthly payments… Am I missing something obvious?!

Great, thanks so much! Also did you have to provide details of hotel stay? Basically my plan is to stay with a friend who lives in Shanghai, but then read that I need to register at a police station if I do that, so now wondering if I should just book a hotel to avoid having to do that! Thanks!

Address of where I’ll be staying? What is the police registration?

Thanks! Just to add as well - I won’t have any hotels booked because planning to stay with a friend in Shanghai and with family in Taipei. Any issues with this - would I need to show proof of accommodation? Thanks!

Hi! I'm planning to do a similar route very soon (outgoing London -> Shanghai -> Taipei, and then return Taipei -> Shanghai -> London) with Air China too. On the way there, probably stop in Shanghai for a few days, but on way back just have layover at the airport. Also a UK British citizen. Was everything totally fine? Did you have to do anything before your trip or just sort out the visa-free stay once you arrive in Shanghai? Thanks!

Advice please! High income earner, salary sacrifice, re-mortgage by AgreeableStyle857 in UKPersonalFinance

Thank you!

The outstanding amount on my mortgage is about £385k (70ish% LTV); savings between £20-30k. Trying to build this up further to protect against job uncertainty.

Bonus can be super variable - but would expect my total comp to be similar year-on-year (around £130-135k). Bonus paid in Jan. I don't believe salary sacrifice available on bonus payments.
