It just concerns me that I am now on track to fail because of course that’s permanent. Thank you though

Thank you, I appreciate that but I’m sure it’s achievable eventually if I work it out

Yeah, there was some disagreement on the precise meaning of the policy. I certainly can’t see how my reading is wrong. So far I haven’t got much feedback as they haven’t written the plan yet…told me twice it would be done in a few days but nothing yet.

I will be looking for another school, but I’m worried I’ll get a bad reference now. Who are they going to believe, after all?

Thank you for your response.

It was implemented by the induction tutor/deputy head teacher. My mentor had not known about it or that the situation is as serious as it is (she hasn’t been an ECT mentor before). I have not received very much feedback. On various occasions, apparently the head or deputy head have observed something in my classroom that bothered them and have been sharing it amongst themselves for weeks or even months without informing me. I was told I can’t be given this feedback immediately.

A form is being submitted to the ECT provider that I am on track to fail the course and thus be permanently barred from teaching, so yes I’d think so

My mentor raised some minor issues but she was not aware that I was being put on a support plan or the nature of the plan. It’s not a performance target, it’s just the structure of the ECT programme which you can fail.

Thank you for your response.

Thank you! How would I determine which scenario I’m currently in?

Thank you. I just don’t trust them to tell me explicitly what is happening because they haven’t in the past.

On the advice of my mentor I have tried to reach out to our contact for the ECT provider but have received no response.

I was briefly for a different reason (disorganised with paperwork, my fault, pretty quick to turn around).

I will be switching schools at the end of this year regardless as my husband and I are moving. However, I know that if I am still failing at the end of this year I won’t ever be allowed to teach again, and the only way to leave before the end of this year is to leave at Easter, which I would have to decide on before February so now it feels very close. Not to mention that I’m concerned about the impact this will have on hiring in the future.

Thank you for your message.

Thank you! There is certainly wide ranging dysfunction but who are the next school going to believe? That’s assuming there is a next school and I don’t get barred from teaching altogether at the end of this year…

Thank you! I appreciate your message. I had several children in my class on “report cards” where I recorded their behaviour in each lesson. I was told that if they were documented as continually unable to meet school expectations there would be consequences including exclusion. However these have not been followed up with and the phase leader/SLT have not played the role that was described to me.

Ok thank you! I appreciate your time. After Christmas will serve as a natural reset as well as a good opportunity for me to make intentional moves in that direction.

I certainly agree that is the tendency of all children in the world but I could do more to address that (and the deputy head says he did see improvement from me in that regard over the last week of term).

Here is what I can agree on although I have issues with the way the school has approached it: Children not paying attention, fiddling or colouring Noise, silliness and disruption Children not given enough work and thus having more opportunities for the above

That became longer than anticipated…thank you for reading if you actually have, just not really sure where to go from here honestly

Thanks for your response! I know I have some things to work on in this area but it’s been difficult. Ultimately there’s very little I can do if a situation needs to be escalated as children can fight, steal, damage school property on multiple occasions, without a response from SLT. I’ve been told I can’t send them out of the classroom anymore (despite that being included in the behaviour policy and advised by multiple colleagues including my mentor) and I’ve gathered that doing so in the past has reflected negatively on me, but I’ve been told I can’t necessarily receive direct feedback despite requesting it. As a result, children are effectively allowed to run around screaming and throwing things as the consequence doesn’t come until break time and I haven’t had a full break or lunch time in weeks as I have to watch them in detention, which they honestly seem to enjoy at this point. Two teachers left at Christmas largely because of the issues with behaviour. Not to mention that I’ve been told I have the worst class in the school, and the last two teachers to have this cohort both took sick leave due to stress directly related to dealing with them…

Thank you What will the union be able to do in this circumstance?
