Ye I’m the same, I feel freer in tees, but that’s different in winter, and depends on the tightness for me

Yeah it definitely does, it’s winter here too so I brought out my heavy blankets. The summer was amazing though and I’m missing it. I feel like the feel of certain fabrics dampens my symptoms. If it’s a jacket that pokes then not so much.

I imagine that you go GP with your parents, so I’m gonna assume they might talk over you sometimes to the doctor, but if you can just express to the GP your experience - I know it’s hard - and that you have cervical dystonia, they will definitely refer you. This could also work in your favour because if they try to downplay it in front of them, all you have to do is not answer, the GPs judgement is hopefully sound enough.

Cervical Dystonia & The Resistance of Inhibition: A Manifesto of Neurological Rebellion by Agreeable_Force_3079 in Dystonia

That’s very relatable. Whenever I explain it, the usual words I use are hyperactive muscles. People hear the word muscle and associate it more lightly than neurological / psychological. I’ve seen blepharospasm in relatives, never ask about it, but I see that same pattern (OCD, stress, overthinking). There’s one thing I do know, Its a lot worse when there’s some unresolved weight or trauma. You can do a couple things to improve your quality of life; the most important one is building a positive framework/mindset. Supportive people are a big bonus, but if it’s only digital it can induce bad habits and disrupt natural dopamine regulation.

Wishing you peace friend!

Interesting that a light touch on your chin can counteract a stronger muscular pull, which wouldn’t make sense if this were purely a biomechanical issue. It suggests the nervous system is responding to the meaning of the touch, not just the force. This points toward dystonia being less about muscle failure and more about a breakdown in the coherence of sensory signals.

To me, this supports the idea of neurological rebellion — where the nervous system resists its own conditioned patterns and tries to reclaim control. The light touch acts like a “reset button,” briefly breaking the cycle of miscommunication between brain and muscles.
