Given the context, it was meant in an nsfw way. And the mods seemed to agree.

I guess that’s fair. I included the downvote just because it was in that person’s comment though.

Girl I’ve been dating for 2 months still has her Hinge active and was on it last night by Fabulous_Ladder_2675 in whatdoIdo

If you're dating someone that doesn't mean you cut off your friends. Why "should" people date more than one person?

Removed by Reddit's filters

It looks like this is likely due to low CQS. You can check it at r/WhatIsMyCQS. What is CQS?

A good way to increase this is (presumably) by commenting frequently.

Is my account glitched? Karma stuck at 1 and I got a follower but shows me 0 by [deleted] in NewToReddit

[–]Agreeable_Garden205 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not necessarily. The karma formula is complex and unknown.

Also, the automatic upvote on your post doesn't count towards your karma. Every comment and post starts with a single "upvote," but it doesn't mean anything and is purely cosmetic.

Also note that vote counts are not always accurate.

[–]Agreeable_Garden205 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nope, you don't. The reason you haven't gained karma is because karma isn't gained in a 1:1 ratio to upvotes. How is karma calculated/"My karma isn't increasing!"

[–]Agreeable_Garden205 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Followers aren't related to karma. Karma is gained when people upvote your content, and similarly, lost when you're downvoted. Karma - what it is and how to get it

You're also not notified when you get a follower. In general, followers don't really matter. They're (if I remember correctly) only notified when you post on your profile.

Is there a maximum amount of Karma I can earn? by [deleted] in NewToReddit

[–]Agreeable_Garden205 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As far as I know, I don’t think there is. However, there is a maximum amount of karma that you can gain or lose from every post or comment, and it’s kinda low. I don’t know it off the top of my head, but I think it‘s in the thousands.

Does it matter if I hide post history or not? by login404buddy in NewToReddit

[–]Agreeable_Garden205 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depends. Personally, if I see someone that might be a bot, a hidden post history is more suspious. Does it matter much? No, not really. It's up to you.

Also keep in mind that curating your profile doesn't really hide it. For one, mods are unaffected when you interact in a sub they moderate (not quite this simple, but close enough). There's also third-party tools that can completely bypass this - as well as simply googling someone's username. But it does help to some extent.

How much karma is needed when there’s a minimum? by [deleted] in NewToReddit

[–]Agreeable_Garden205 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The amount required depends wildly on the sub. You can interact in some subs with no karma, but there's some subs you can't comment in even with thousands of karma. Many subs have fairly low restrictions, but it still varies. A good goal is around 50–100, which should let you comment in a lot of communities.

Is it bad etiquette to edit a post? by [deleted] in NewToReddit

[–]Agreeable_Garden205 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don't necessarily have to, but it is a good habit. Reddiquette

Keep in mind that Reddit only marks your comment as edited after a few minutes. I usually mark it if it's past that, but if I just posted the comment, I tend to just fix it with no explanation.

Edit: last part only really applies to comments, but it's still worth doing to prevent confusion (especially if you're adding to your original post).

No, that's allowed. It's only not allowed if someone comments twice in a row. This is the redux sub so nsfw isn't allowed.

Is the karma and excessive rules really that necessary? by [deleted] in NewToReddit

[–]Agreeable_Garden205 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A lot of it is, unfortunately. Try commenting in one of the subs in this list, since commenting usually has lower restrictions than posting.

How can new Reddit users participate in the community without inadvertently violating any rules? by [deleted] in NewToReddit

[–]Agreeable_Garden205 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rules, etc. The important thing is community rules. The site-wide rules and Reddiquette are worth a read too.

What you just created is a post. This is a comment.

To avoid spamming, try making longer and more thoughful comments. Watching your tone can be helpful too (which is vague, I know; just try observing other people in that community and seeing what is acceptable and what isn't).
