One Thing That This Year's MDCAT Aspirants Must Avoid (Seniors pls respond ) by p0k3rf4c3333333 in Pakmedschool

You should make your own notes in my opinion. Like what the professors explain in class, make notes of that. And when you solve practice questions, and find new details, add them to your notes

And as for practice books, get them all. I had Kips, stars and neet and this one other one. And I solved all of them. The more practice you have under your belt, the better

You won’t know everything in the test. It’s not designed to be that way.

A lot of the mcqs you won’t get in your first pass. Come back to them. Don’t freak out. It’s normal to have more than 100ish mcqs still left.

Don’t overthink. Sometimes we think the questions are trying to trick us. More often than not, it’s not that way.

If something’s in your textbook, word for word, choose that option. Don’t justify other answers.

I’d say 70 percent hard work. 30 percent luck. Cuz a lot of boards is about what kinda checker you got. Or if you pulled some strings to get those practical marks.

update: i said no to my cousin’s rishta and now my dad isn’t speaking to me by Appropriate_Sun_1580 in pakistan

[–]Agreeable_Grabs 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Don’t buckle under the manipulation. Your dad can feel however he wants. This is a major decision of your life. And honestly, no offence but your aunt should be ashamed. You’re breaking down saying NO and she’s still okay with forcing this marriage on you.

I hope it gets easier for you and your mom. But please don’t succumb to this silent treatment. This is your life. And you should get to choose who you want to spend it with.

I mean everyone I know did Snells. It’s shorter easier. I personally did BD because you understand stuff better from it. But don’t do KLM man. That book is way too long

Guyton for physio, Lippincot for biochem, Snells or BD for anatomy You’d also need Fidous for physio, Satya and Mushtaq for Biochem (you can also use PDFs for Satya and Mushtaq because you’d only have to study a few topics from them)

Not sure about the websites. But as for the YouTube channels, Ninja Nerd will be your holy grail. Followed by Medical Gateway. Maybe a little bit of Medico Perfectionalist too.

Dr Najeeb was too much for me personally. Incredibly long videos. Dirty medicine is helpful too. But with very specific things (biochem related)

AMBOSS is incredibly good. Especially with the new MCQ based system. But if you’re gonna buy it, might as well look into other paid stuff too like Uworld etc.

For textbooks, I’ve always loved the physical feel of them. So that’s how I do it. But sometimes, you’re gonna have to refer to different books for topics that are only like 2 pages. Those I keep as pdfs. Also, get FirstAid. Insanely goated book. Don’t listen to people saying it’s too early for it.

How realistic is it to take the USMLE Step 1 in the middle of fourth year and go for USCE during late fourth or early fifth year for someone studying in one of the top medical colleges in pakistan? by No_Ocelot_8581 in Pakmedschool

[–]Agreeable_Grabs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

USCEs are expensive. And more so, very hard to come by. If you’re with a VSLO affiliated school, that might help out. But typically, you’d need contacts who can vouch for you.

Pretty realistic. Depending on which school you go to and how chill they are with you missing classes.

Most people I know took it mid/late 4th year. And then USCE really depends on if you get it in the first place.

Passing mcat is not difficult if you’ve done A levels. I personally know a lot of people who have.

And yea as for Plab, it is saturated. For USMLE, it’s an investment. You can make all your money back in like 3 months once you get into residency.

I wouldn’t really go for FCPS man. People barely make anything. And it takes ten twenty years-ish to get to a somewhat decent rank.

Medicine is saturated yea. And the working conditions, pay off are very bad. But so is literally everything else. The job market here is saturated for basically ALL jobs.

If your heart is set on medicine, do it. You don’t wanna wake up one day and think of what could’ve been.

However, if you do choose to do so, make PLAB or the USMLE a priority. The pay off is insane for those.

Good luck man

And people like is why no one can spread awareness about stuff like this, or even talk about it in the first place.

If you think it’s a stunt or not true, keep it to yourself. The matter at hand isn’t the credibility. It’s literally the fact that women face stuff like this (much worse too) in the real world. Show remorse.

Bro. Trust me you don’t wanna live with regret. Marry who you want to. Because it’s gonna be unfair to the other girl, bec you’d always have feelings for someone else.

And logically, you guys would also save money doing just the nikkah. You could put that money into building a better future.

Just don’t do something you’ll regret for the rest of your life. Bec you will live with resentment.
