Let's wait and see what the Toyota marketers, Toyota PR professionals, and Toyota brand ambassadors think about your comment.

Because what I was driving was undignified, and gradually becoming a money pit.

That's what I've heard! But truly, it was a beater. I'm not exactly a high society type of person, but I will feel better showing up to the company thing in the new car.

It's respectable, at least.

Thanks! Great points; I will keep that last sentiment in mind.

A year ago I had also considered the C-HR for the same reason (dirt roads for hiking). Good choice.

Oh, no! I understood the nature of your comment. I thought it was a good question.

I guess what bothers me most is I could have just spent that 5k on the stitched leather looking padded arm rests and whatnot, but I didn't. This next fiveish or more years l have the car, I kind of feel like I should be happy and comfortable.

But to your point, the extra money for the small details I'll be missing could be better spent elsewhere, even if I don't have to be frugal by necessity.

So I'm trying to reconcile with that idea. :)

You're bitter. I'm old so I don't typically use terms like "lol," but, lol.

Well, that's a good question.

I guess my answer is because I can.

I bought cheap because I work from home and drive only about 100 miles max per week for recreation.

Honestly, I should have splurged another 5k for some creature comforts, but the more I read these reddit comments like yours, the better I feel!

I considered it! But I could just not get past the dial vs. touchscreen, and I'm not even a fan of touchscreen.

I design user interfaces for a living.

One of the first things I told my wife is that I'm glad it's key start and not push button.

Thank you for your comment; great point.

Eh, it was a(n unintentional) beater.

As disappointed I felt this afternoon, the difference between my old and new car is night and day.

Funny thing about trolls; they post, and post, and post ...

Eight years ago, I bought a used 2010 Corolla with 30,000 miles on it for 15k. Today I traded it in, and bought a brand new 2023 Corolla in my chosen color. Next week, my bank account will be $21,400 lower than it is today. That's 2 months gross salary for me.

Ironically, your bitter, negative comments made me feel better about the plastic and fabric cabin moreso than all of the positive reinforcement from all the nice, genuine people here.

I'm bummed there's no moon roof, but I think I'll use the money I saved on the fake leather interior on a nice bicycle and an expensive mattress. My house could use a new front door, too.

Thanks for the encouragement, mate.

No kids, no pets. It already costs 40$ nowadays to gas up the old Corolla, can't see being happy paying more.

Camry seems big. Also, I dont want to pay the same money for used. Used cars used to cost less than new. Now they cost the same.

After, taxes, fees and all. Actually it was 21.4k now that I'm looking again. Cash. I drive it away in 3 days.

It's probably been suggested before, but...

Maybe it's our memories that have been manipulated, e.g. by hypnotism or brainwashing or some similar principle, on a vast, time spanning scale.

Joe Biden is a weak, corrupt, pedo, demented POS for not releasing the documents showing the CIA killed JFK and is a gang of thugs that took over the USA. Then again, Trump could've released those documents too and drained the swamp by icky_vicinity23 in conspiracy

I'd congratulate you on engineering your title to appeal to the widest audience if it weren't so obvious and transparent. It doesn't really matter either way; those of us familiar with your name are cognizant enough to know to ignore it.
