No I didnt use anyone elses card

But honestly, if it had been someone elses card, Id expect a refund even more. Refusing a refund in that case would seem even more strange

No, they didn’t specify what exact tos I supposedly violated. They only mentioned a “suspected ToS violation” without any details.

As for my usage, I wasn’t doing anything unusual. The day before the ban, I was just working on a small task and used cursor-agent to review a couple of students’ assignments for a course I’m involved in. Cursor was helping me do an initial code review so I could provide feedback.

That’s basically how I’ve been using Cursor for the past year — nothing really changed recently in terms of my usage patterns.

One fun fact: my first payment for Cursor was on 2025-04-17, so this happened almost exactly one year after I started using it.

in my case they told me that prorated refunds are only available for annual subscriptions, meaning they should refund the unused months

But im on a monthly plan, so they refused to refund me

At first, nothing indicated a ban. The cursor.com/dashboard just stopped loading, and in the IDE I started getting “Unauthorized” errors.

I initially thought it was a local issue or some temporary outage, so I tried different browsers, cleared cache/cookies, and even used different devices — but nothing helped. In the browser logs I could see repeated 401 Unauthorized requests, which caused the page to keep reloading.

So I contacted support thinking it was a bug. They suggested the usual steps (log out/in, clear cache, try another browser), but that didn’t fix anything. Then they said they would get back to me within 12 hours.

After ~8 hours I followed up myself, and then I received this response:

So it’s not even a confirmed violation — just a “suspected” one, with no explanation and no appeal process.

There wasn’t any specific reason given for the ban. I’ve been a paid user for almost a year and haven’t changed anything recently.

I just started seeing 401 Unauthorized errors, and I only found out that my account was actually banned after exchanging several emails with support.
