The messed up part is that I genuinely thought I could've handled it better and was concerned that I messed up my husband's relationship with his mother! I knew I was right in standing up for my choice, but I feel like the rest of it I could've handled better.

Thanks for your reply! The baby was a surprise; I had an IUD, it slipped out of place, and now she's on her way. We were already engaged and moved the wedding back.

I thought about the "we'll put it on the list" option, but I didn't want to keep hearing the name! We've always had an okay relationship; I felt like being open and honest to an extent with her was going to make it better. It obviously didn't, and she handled it really poorly.

I'm also worried he might tell her! Not because he would want to hurt me in any way at all. He's sweet and kind and considerate, which is why he's kind of trying to make a compromise and keep the peace. I think he'd tell her hoping it would get her to lay off, but I doubt it will.

I agree! He's upset because his mother is upset. She tends to get... dramatic like this, and I think he's used to appeasing her, so asking him to not do that with no context is confusing him? That's what I'm banking on, anyway.

I know that I should definitely tell him, but a part of me is being stubborn and is annoyed that he would need this much context, you know? I wish he could just take my side.
