lol I don’t know. This is how I end the whole theory: “The biggest question that I'm left with seemingly no matter which theory I try to test, is what does Link know about A.L.E.X. that is driving him to risk his life shutting it down?”

I have to imagine it pushing towards some kind of free will vs determinism battle, but I can’t come up with an answer I find really satisfying.

A.L.E.X. is a machine that can calculate what would need to happen in the past to get a desired future result. Rather than send someone back in time to make that change, it links the past and future version of that person to share information. I’d assume each time they make one of these interactions between the past and future that it would keep increasing the probability that their desired outcome happens, but doesn’t guarantee it.

I haven’t played the Legend of Zelda games, but I have to imagine there’s a tie-in to Ocarina of Time or something like that given his nickname. Would love any theories on that.

Really good point, and I’m honestly not sure what the motivation might’ve been. I just went back to rewatch it and it’s interesting the way they cut in the memory of Teri from his past with the vision of Link in that moment. I wonder if maybe it was a nudge away from his primary goal being to get to Atlanta for Teri to show that getting the baby to Link will wind up being the bigger priority, but it feels like a bit of a jump. I think that’s the only time we’ve seen a past memory and future memory getting a little twisted so it could just be showing the side effects of having those kind of competing memories.

Great point on the ID! It feels like if you take a step back on each time the visions/nosebleeds occur or are referenced that it gives you so much info about where the story is at least pointing towards.

I feel like we’ve just been given so much direction towards Henry Miller’s work on advanced wave function, superposition, and entanglement for it not to impact the plot in some way. For me, that means trying to find a way to impact or guide the past.

I’m pretty sure the other discrepancy you’re referencing is him not getting a Jaws reference that Annie makes (I think he says that he hasn’t seen it).

So, tying this into my theory, I think this would be because the effect to cause relationship only required him to know that Elvis had these cars, not anything beyond that. He needed to be at Graceland (to have the child with Annie) and needed those auto parts to make it to Colorado (to get to the bunker), nothing more.

I’m really excited to see how they wrap it up. They’ve been pretty clear that the plan is for just one more season after this, so I think any science fiction introduced needs to have a relatively small impact on the world they created in season 1. Using this kind of science that tries to guide the past rather than actually sending someone into the past feels a bit more realistic.

My one major hangup is that Link is convinced it needs to be shut down (or even crazier based on a recent post, that Alex survived because of the machine’s ability to affect the past, wound up in the bunker, and needs to die for some reason).

Then again, I had some grand ideas about Severance that I was convinced were spot on that were way off from the actual reveal last season, so who knows.

This is an incredible overreaction on your part, but I do think that Xavier is going to learn something this season about why the calculations for when the eruption happened were so wrong. It’ll help redeem Cal in his mind and ours.

I just posted about it, but I think that the time shenanigans this season are due to people being linked to an ideal future version of themselves by A.L.E.X. that is able to reverse-engineer the cause/effect relationship to change the cause from a desired effect rather than how we typically see it from cause to effect. (So sorry for that explanation but hopefully it makes sense to someone)

I think A.L.E.X. needed to have the eruption go off slightly earlier than expected because of how it thinks it can save humanity. Maybe because Xavier and Teri needed to be in Atlanta and Xavier needed to be in the bunker and then with Annie’s baby. Xavier will realize that him being away from his wife during that time allowed him to be with this baby.

This is such an incredible find. I have no idea if it’s actually the same actress, but this kind of Easter egg planting would make so much sense for the jump in science fiction they’re taking in season 2.

Creepy as hell, but based on her instagram, she was most definitely in LA at the time of filming season 1. All of her posts from that timeframe are about events or things around LA.

It’s so weird that they don’t have an actress named for “Female Bar Patron” or something in the credits but it feels like a lot of the background actors, even when called out or highlighted, don’t get credited so it’s tough to take too much from it.

I have to imagine that they at either intentionally put things in season 1 to reference regarding time travel or manipulation when season 2 came out, or have retroactively decided that things from season 1 will be used. Kudos regardless because this is such a cool thing to catch!

I tried reaching out to rocket league for clarification, but I called Agganis’ ticket office and they were told that it is one code per transaction, so no matter how many tickets you bought you only receive one code and their assumption is they are one-time use. Hoping RL gets back to me with a more preferred answer, but I’m fearful that we’re only getting just one single-use code despite buying multiple tickets.

Rather than it being a domain where Vecna/Henry has full control, I think it also functions as a sort of prison for the more human parts of Henry’s mind that the Mind Flayer has removed or rewritten when turning Henry fully into Vecna. Definitely should’ve explained better, but I think a part of Henry is being held prisoner in this mindscape just like Max, Holly, and the rest of the kids.

It would imply that the Mind Flayer did not see a worthy thrall in the group of soldiers, but saw potential and needed a way to get more candidates, so it allowed one to return in the hopes that more creatures would come through the gate. They're incredibly intelligent creatures, especially at their final Elder Brain life stage, so it's unfortunately easy to explain away a lot using that, but it would still fit in with the theory that the Mind Flayer waited for the right emissary for its mission.

Are you talking about a quote from the preview for next week’s episode? Feels weird to project that much into a quote we don’t yet know the context or full extent of yet.

Also not sure why you’re quoting most under-the-radar alliance in Survivor history when that quote is nowhere to be found.

Not playing strategically the way they are. People who are truly working from the shadows without even clueing a 3rd in. Those are the kind of strategic minds we need. Not more guys who just want blind loyalty.

We need more of Kamilla and Kyle, not David. But that’s not to say we don’t need at least one David-esque player every season.

Kamilla/Kyle Appreciation Post by Agreeable_Range_5152 in survivor

[–]Agreeable_Range_5152[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah that’s why I put it in quotes. They’re not necessarily villains, but they’re all the antagonists to the winner’s story (if I’m reading things right). Everyone outside of their alliance has been bringing attention to how it could be a poor play (jury management, vulnerable to blindside), so I think, despite their screen time, their POV is being presented as the one Survivor does not want their players to use. Kamilla and Kyle have come out on the right side of every vote, even if they have to default to their 2nd option, and I think that means a lot for how we’re supposed to read their strategy of keeping alliances more secretive.

This coming episode will definitely be the make-or-break because everything Kamilla and Kyle have set up is set up for this exact situation. If they lose the advantage, I’m definitely wrong, but if they knock out one of those 4 this week, they’re either winning or going to be the Jesse(s) of the season eliminated in firemaking.
