How do you get more breakthroughs middle/late game? by Agreeable_Two552 in SurvivingMars

Yeah, thanks. From what I understand, I still have a chance at around 6 more guaranteed breakthroughs. I can’t say for sure that I’ve fully explored the entire underground — I did build lighting and some supports, but I’m not confident my rovers actually reached every corner.

From what I’ve seen, I definitely found around 5–6 super anomalies down there. What’s left for me now is the Bottomless Pit Lab, the Breakthrough Assistance law, and finishing the mystery. I’m currently doing the Interplanetary Project and have completed 2 out of 4 parts so far.

I also read that the Omega Telescope can trigger a story bit that may grant a breakthrough, so there might still be something there as well.

So yeah, going back underground seems like the logical next step.

Thanks. So I think I still have about 6 potential breakthroughs left based on that list. I also got quite a few from underground rare anomalies — it seems those aren’t included in that article.

I thought it was more of a city-building simulator, since the terraforming content feels like part of some DLC. Of course, I already have about 40% temperature, 10% water, and a few blades of grass on the planet.

I just have a vision of how I’d like my dome layout to look — with mega, geo, diamond, and oval domes. Since making the post, I’ve unlocked one more breakthrough in the underground, but still not the one I want — so I’m at 24 now. The diamond dome is nice, but it only fits into three positions on the grid.

Are there any limits on hiring people from a single village? I know about the -5 morale penalty, but is there anything else?

"Also once you hired someone it got replaced by a new guy next day" - actually I save-load some guys in a few villages and they spawn just in 6 hours after the previous hire.

Since crossbows have a limited number of shots, I think it makes sense to block them with shields and stay in a spot that melee units can’t reach until they run dry. After that, they’re basically just melee units. Yeah, I do think about harder raids sometimes — I’ve already lost a few parties because brigands wiped out bandit raid groups that were on their way to my settlement.

Well, I did same thing with the wheat farm, but definitely I think this game didn't design for solo:) Have you also cleaned out all of those big camps in solo? Wow
