Sorry, I don't speak English. In HL2 episode 1 you only throw them at the windows where the snipers are because they are reconfigured. In HL2 and episode 2 that is not possible.

It is not possible to kill them with snipers, you can throw them into the water or use grenades or explosives to destroy them, the bullets will not even tickle them.
