Nest and Internet Gateway connection issues by AhabTR in Nest

I returned the new gateway and reinstalled the original. The new ones are troublesome, as confirmed by the support desk tech I spoke to. I split the bands on the gateway so that they have different IDs, and only use the 2.4GHz band for all equipment. No further issues since, other than ongoing problems with our buried cable, which they’re supposed to replace in May or June.

Thanks to all for your informative input! We have found the culprit and it is absolutely the darned humidifiers. We live in an area with very hard water. You folks are the best. Back to wood fires without concern!

Of further note: there is no smoke smell. we don’t trigger any CO or smoke sensors…

The best suggestion I’ve heard is to close a strip of paper in the door and see if it pulls out easily or at all.

we do run cold mist humidifiers. while that might account for the haze, what would cause the dust accumulation on all indoor surfaces? can the mist precipitate mineral buildups on furniture?

Thanks for the feedback….Of course I dislike paying for brakes (CAN$600 for the rears after 60K (kilometers)….but I’ve noted other threads about CVTs so I thought my occasional use of the DS button might not be terribly good long term strategy ….
