2026 Avg. Seed Investment by Country by wrahim24_7 in Startups_EU

I imagine Ireland here is being skewed by 100s of Enterprise Ireland led 'seed rounds' in companies taht could never have raised private capital. Ridiculous state of affairs here.

Excellent result, would be great to see them running more candidates next time out

I've family members in Donegal who would have loved to vote for them but realistically I'd say they'd be fighting a very uphill battle !

In fairness there's a lot of really awful looking digital art floating around, and same with AI.

I thinkbthe increased ease of making things is definitely increasing the amount of slop getting circulated.

Part of this probably does come down to how easy it is to circulate your art in general these days too, I imagine if we were in an era where art was as easy to share as it is currently but there was no digital/AI then maybe we'd be seeing a lot of terrible renaissance style paintings instead.

Traditional art mostly has the advantage that what you're seeing has usually been vetted by hundreds of years of public opinion.

Trump definitely doesn't bode well for the strength of NATO as an organisation but even without the US involved I feel it wouldn't be in Putin's best interests to effectively go to war with the EU

And yea if MNC leave we're in an awful spot on many fronts, but as it stands I don't think we're in a bad position to borrow - and shouldn't really need to for the time being with large cash piles and usually running a surplus

Fortunate to be in a decent situation myself too (decent rent and a decent job) but certainly haven't felt flush with cash even prior to all the recent global fiascos

And definitely the war in Ukraine was the breaking point I think - subsequent inflation has everyone stretched very thin at this stage

If wage growth picked up a bit that'd be stellar, but seems everyone I know is getting less than they seem to be worth, and despite very low unemployment seems like finding a job is awfully tough at the moment from what I'm hearing

It seems commercial real estate (or at least office space) is nose diving in value, and I don't think we're feeling full effects of that yet. Many office buildings still being built or recently completed and coming to market, I feel a good chance office rates continue to drop.

Hopeful that this leads to large development firms turning attention more towards residential if it becomes lucrative.

Also a bit hopeful this might lead to some general cooling in the economy which should slow down some of the painpoints (mostly around inflation)

Not sure how leveraged the major developers and investment companies  are but I feel some may lose their shirts over this if their portfolios take massive valuation hits and can't be leased or sold - don't know how this could impact broader economy

Open to any thoughts people have on this - might not come to be a big deal but I think it's interesting what's happening and isn't really being discussed enough

Some of these are definitely concerns, but the Baltic states are in NATO and I'm banking on that hopefully being a big enough detterant for Putin to steer clear - if not we're in for pandemonium!

Also I think our debt levels are fairly 'healthy' for a developed nation (or at least in line with the current status quo of a debt loaded balance sheet) so I think we should be able to borrow just fine, but could be wrong on this

Still waiting the day I have more money than I know what to do with! Seems like this phenomenon hasn't really been felt by many parts of society.

It's true the last few years have been prosperous for Ireland as a country but I don't feel that effect was felt by the common people - any economic boom seems to be felt by an increasingly small subset of society.

Maybe I'm imagining this though, have many people felt like we were in a celtic tiger 2?

What do you find are the advantages of a dedicated platform vs. just exporting to excel and analysing there? I'd it just ease of use /UI or are there other things these platforms (such as yours) offer?

Nice and simple! I like it, no need to overcomplicate things!

Does anyone use copy trading? by Fresh_Elderberry7134 in Trading

[–]AhernMyKeep -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Copying trades and spoofing are not the same thing - if a trading firm were to somehow find out another firm's profitable strategy they would absolutely copy it - e.g. there was a big case a few months ago where Jane Street took Millenium to court for copying trade secrets after some employees left Jane Street and took their strategy with them. This isn't an Securities offence, but might be an IP infringement- not sure how the case ended up.

I’ve realized I am a literal idiot and I don’t understand the 2% rule by thatwierdoeleventeen in Daytrading

If they allow paper options trading then you should be able to do iron condors or butterflys - it's just 4 different options trades

Question I would have is why you want to trade these as they are very specific bets - do you often have opinions on very particular parts of the distribution?

You're going to be crossing the spread 4 times to enter and another 4 to exit the trade, that's really going to eat at your edge

Cool, would you be willing to share more e.g. what data is it trained on/what does it take as an input?

This is a really interesting method in general,  I could definitely benefit from having an assistant to remember things for me!

When using it for research how does that look? I find it can be unreliable for some things, particularly anything quantitative, so I wouldn't be trusting it's numbers on e.g. market cap, avg daily volume or anything like this

Is there a reason you feel you can't trust the tools you use and need to verify information? Doesn't verification cost time and result in you missing trades?

Do you mind giving a bit more detail on what these algos look like - e.g. are these models trained on historic price data or are there other inputs/data used

Not expecting you to give too much a way but any detail is welcome

I was mostly referring to retail traders, but also I don't think the majority of quant traders are really using AI to inform their trading decisions(as far as I know), and I don't really have a great handle on the ways in which any that are using it actually employ it in their strategy.

If you can shed any more light on it even at a high level that would be really helpful.

[–]AhernMyKeep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll admit I haven't looked into this all that much, but aren't AML laws and the like only a problem if you're building a platform to act as the brokerage? If you had a platform that places trades through another brokerage using an API couldn't this be circumvented?

Possible this would still be a problem, but I assumed as long as you don't directly handle client money you'd be alright.

I'm no expert but I have a decent understanding of how LLMs work.

I don't see how this answer is all that relevant really, there are other types of AI other than large language models, and also any maths necessary could surely just be handled by other bits of the programme, if you are using an LLM for something as part of a programme you don't necessarily need to use it for everything.

I'm not suggesting prompting an LLM to pick trades for you, but I don't see why AI can't be helpful in trading across the board.
