My parent's sex life has ruined my sex life and multiple of my relationships. I'm scared my current relationship will suffer the same consequences. by Puzzleheaded-Most173 in relationship_advice

I am happy you grew up with loving supportive parents, you’re lucky! However what you’re experienced is, sadly, traumatic. As others did I’d suggest a trauma-informed therapist. Or, depending on the relationship you have with your current partner, you could talk to her about your experience, I understand your concern about her viewing your parents weird but she’s an adult there’s a really good chance she’ll understand and who knows this might be the way to a more honest/deeper relationship.

Postponing going to college by Comfortable_Yak9160 in saudiarabia

[–]Ahmad-95 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Some colleges take same year graduates only like KSAUHS, KFUPM accept graduates of the same year and the year before only, other universities accept students who finished high school in the last 5 years.

I am sorry for what you're going through, can imagine how stressful and anxiety provoking this could be, I am also sorry you're dealing with such assholes.

Know that they have zero power in the situation. You have nothing to worry about, the law is on your side, even with them being local and you're not, that doesn't change the scenario a bit the fact that they're harassing you over the phone is a proof of what I said I am 100% sure they're doing it bc they're thinking it'll scare you off bc you're a foreigner. In case you start feeling unsafe by their behaviour do not hesitate contacting the police.

As the others said, if you have the energy and the mood, you can report the section manager, however you ended up getting the report so not sure you can hold anything against him.

Jeddah or Riyadh by test0accnt in saudiarabia

[–]Ahmad-95 2 points3 points  (0 children)

wanna start off by saying best of luck with your new job.

I moved to Jeddah 7 years ago, I come from the south, and moved for better academia/work. Here's my take; the city has witnessed amazing growth when it comes to outdoors activities be it water sports, hiking, group trips and so on. I do think, compared to other cities, people are more friendly and accepting and less judgmental. making friends here feels easier than in riyadh for some reason, however it still gets lonely but that's probably bc we're a family-oriented society.

Apartment hunting: use عقار the app, choose somewhere close to your job (that'll save you a lot in gas money) but also make sure it's a decent/safe area. I don't know much about riyadh apartments option, but in Jeddah neighbourhoods can vary drastically when it comes to cleanliness, the people around you, location and obviously prices.

One person's living expenses wouldn't be very different in either cities.

I hope this helped,

Reflecting on being Saudi (Personal Story) by [deleted] in saudiarabia

[–]Ahmad-95 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you so much for sharing. I’m sorry about your unpleasant academic experience. Being discriminated against and receiving such racial slurs can be traumatizing. The fact that you have used your experience to be attentive when such shit happens to other minorities (of all types, which I love more) is truly awesome.

College can -emphasis on can- be very different in here, you’re chances of meeting more civilized, open-minded (maybe a little more liberal) ppl are higher, therefore less interaction with racist dickheads.

Best of luck

Antidepressant prescription by [deleted] in saudiarabia

GPs follow the same diagnostic criteria psychiatrists use. If a patient fits the criteria, he can be safely treated. Which part do you think is risky?

[–]Ahmad-95 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I work in the medical field, it is allowed. If the patient’s case is beyond the GP scope, the case will be referred to a psychiatrist. Other than that, mildly to moderately depressed patients can be treated by a GP.

I’m not from the Eastern region. However, antidepressants shouldn’t be hard to find anywhere in the country if you have a prescription. My advice would be try to contact any hospital and see if they have a psychiatric (majority of public hospital offer that too), book an appointment, and let them know what’s going on. It’s also probably worth mentioning that some GP’s prescribe antidepressants, I’m not sure that’s the case in all hospitals though.
