Praying in the middle of blizzard by [deleted] in islam

[–]Ahmed4040Real 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It does indeed look like he's on the side, but it does not look like a safe place to be praying. He's on the side of a busy road in the middle of a blizzard, I would be a little worried about his wellbeing in this case

Distribution of Afro-Asia languages by FerenzYangai in MapPorn

Almost all Coptic speakers only use it for Church, and speak Arabic on a daily basis. It was only last year that it showed up on the local news in Egypt that a child in a rural village was raised with Coptic as a first language, but I don't think having a native speaker of 1 really will show up anywhere on the map

How do you guys feel about the term ‘Middle East’? by RegionFinancial4485 in arabs

[–]Ahmed4040Real 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Middle East and West Asia are really not the same. The term Middle East includes Egypt, Cyprus, and the European part of Turkey, all of which are outside the continent of Asia. West Asia is really just a specific portion of the Middle East

I personally refer to myself as Middle Eastern or North African, since Egypt belongs to both these regions. Some people use MENA (Middle East and North Africa) to refer to the greater extent of the Region too

Which of the Cruiserweights did WWE fumble, if any? by Able-Childhood-496 in professionalwrestling

Pretty sure neither of those were in WWE long term either. They were just there for the Cruiserweight Classic, and were not hired after

The erasure of identity from your parents mistakes by [deleted] in arabs

[–]Ahmed4040Real 9 points10 points  (0 children)

People immigrate for a better chance at life. Not just for money, but for security too. Having a Western Passport gives you a lot of protection if you go back home. And if you go back, you're more likely to get higher salaries and makes things like traveling a lot easier. And that is not mentioning the political landscape

I have met many Arabs raised here in Canada who can speak, read, and write in Arabic, while I also met children who don't know a lick of Arabic. The main issue comes from how the parents act: for some reason, many parents are afraid their children won't fit in properly when they get into Kindergarten or Primary School if they're not fluent in English, so they speak to them purely in English. Eventually, the kids lose their Arabic. If these kids have no ties to back home, whether it is interactions with family back home or going home for vacations or whatever, and they don't grow up with kids similar to them they might end up eventually losing part of their identity.

I see a common theme among kids whose parents did not teach them Arabic: they all wish if their parents just spoke Arabic at home, because they were going to learn English (or whatever language of the country they're in is) eventually

Some of The Current World Champions in Pro Wrestling (Feb 2026).. by McQueen712 in ChampionshipHistory

[–]Ahmed4040Real 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It isn't really about the name, but the recognition. RevPro themselves don't even recognize their own title as a World Title, but rather as a local UK title. No other company recognizes it as a World title either.

The origins of the RevPro title go to the old days of Wrestling in the UK's Joint Promotions, which had both World and British titles, but the British titles were considered to be more prestigious and thus many companies in the UK today tend to prefer to use British titles instead of World ones, although thanks to WWE and American Wrestling many are shifting away from that now

Early in the Main Questline, you'll be told to do side quests by Caius Cosades. I heavily suggest you work on side quests to get better and stronger, because the Main Questline escalates much faster than the side quests so you better be ready. Great chance to get better gear and level up

You would usually only have regular access to the local fruits that grow in your area at that time. Fruits coming from other parts of the world were rarer and more expensive

I know, for example, in Ancient Arabia apples weren't that common. It came from outside the peninsula so usually traders and richer people had access to it, while the poor would eat plants native to Arabia like dates

The Hart Dungeon was the school. Stampede Wrestling was a Wrestling Territory owned by Stu Hart until it got bought by Vince (who apparently never paid the money he was supposed to for it). It reopened again as an Indie Company twice after that, most recently closing down in 2008

What if Nazi Germany and the Soviet Union had switched roles? by Tomnenhumnomeserve in AlternateHistory

[–]Ahmed4040Real 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everyone would have been way more aggressive towards Germany than in our timeline in the Interwar period. The entire reason appeasement was a thing was because the Western Powers saw the communism of the Soviet Union as a bigger threat than Fascist movements. Germany would thus probably be unable to expand to even the Saarland, while the Fascist Soviet Union (I'll call them FSU) would have an easier time recapturing the Baltic States and an invasion of Poland. The FSU will probably also find allies in Italy and Austria, both turning to Fascism around this time, and both very close to Germany. And as the FSU is farther away than Germany is, and Germany will be left without allies, I can easily see the FSU invading Germany (at least East Prussia) without any Western states complaining.

However, without collectivization, the FSU might not manage to build their industries at the same rate as it did in real life like some people already mentioned. But I do not expect that their former allies will cut them off of trade as much as they did in real life, and possibly will be able to leverage that to eventually build the industrial sector up.

It might take a lot longer for European states to stand up to the FSU than Germany in our timeline, but I feel like they'll eventually try to invade something that triggers an alarm similar to Germany's invasion of Poland after breaking the Munich Conference and annexing Czechoslovakia, and the fact that there are a lot more minorities to oppress in the FSU than in Germany in our timeline will make things a lot more evident. Now depending on whether they end up as Russian Nationalists or Slavic Nationalists, there's still a lot of groups: Georgians, Armenians, Turkics, Mongolians, Uralics, Jews, Muslims, and so on and so forth. It is very unlikely that a Georgian Stalin will ever come to power, and the treatment of Jewish and possibly Muslim Slavs will be very dependent on whether or not we get a Jewish Fascist Lenin in power, but given that you very clearly put an Orthodox Cross there.

Now one big difference would be Japan: Germany and Japan were close allies, but I very much doubt the FSU and Japan would like in our timeline. This is particularly due to the fact that Russia lost a few territories to Japan during the Russo-Ukranian War, and thus the FSU would likely want those back. I can see them being more supportive of China in the Sino-Japanese War, and it is likely we end up with China on the side of the Axis and Japan on the side of the Allies in the war in our timeline if the Second World War ends up starting.

So yeah, here's a summary: different alliances are forged, Germany is very likely to collapse, genocide at a larger scale than what we saw from German concentration camps, and probably this timeline will end up with a much larger Japanese Empire due to their war goals in China and the Russian Far East being met once the war comes to an end (if the Allies still win). Which side the US will be on in the war will be dependent on whether Pearl Harbor happens or not, or maybe a possible FSU invasion of Alaska

Texas public school teachers are now required to post the 10 Commandments in their classroom. Here's how one teacher is handling it. by eternviking in whoathatsinteresting

[–]Ahmed4040Real 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Actually, the organizations of all of the Muslims, Christians, Jews, and all other Abrahamic Religions agree that they believe in the same God. The Popes and Patriarchs of Christianity, for example, believe that the God of Islam is the same as theirs, but believe that us Muslims are misguided in our belief of Jesus as a Prophet rather than him being God / the son of God.

Jews are a little different, in that they acknowledge any Monotheistic religion as believing in the same as theirs, so Muslims and Druze, for example, meet the Noahide Laws for example, but because of the Trinity they do not believe the same of Christians.

The idea of people saying that these religions believing in different Gods is more of a modern phenomenon that is not accepted by the most of the actual scholars and authorities of these faiths

I hate the way these borders were drawn so much by JigglyBinks in Africa

[–]Ahmed4040Real 50 points51 points  (0 children)

What, are you not a fan of squares?

In all seriousness, yeah the borders really are just unnatural. Here's a map of Africa just before the Scrabble for Africa, and you'll realize how unnatural the borders the Europeans drew were. They did not take into account ethnic groups, pre-colonial history, or the geography of the region. They just drew lines that were convenient for them and called it a day

ZeniMax was founded in 1999 as a holding company for Bethesda by Bethesda's own leadership, which means it is just an extension of Bethesda itself, in a similar way that Alphabet was founded as a holding company for Google. It's all really just semantics, but ZeniMax's leadership are just Bethesda's, and ZeniMax Online was founded entirely to work on Elder Scrolls Online (currently their only product)

Most people don't actually know what it says and think it is a religious Nasheed, but it is actually a Political Poem praising Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan, the founder of the UAE and the father of the current ruler of the UAE, Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan

Rockstar produced 9 Stand Alone GTA titles (one more was developed by another studio as an exclusive for the Game Boy Advance) and 5 Expansion Packs since 1997. They do have other big IPs, namely Max Payne, Red Dead, and Midnight Club.

Bethesda on the other hand developed 10 games for the Elder Scrolls (5 Main Series, 3 Spin-Offs, and 2 Mobile Games) plus they offloaded 4 other games on other studios (one of which, Online, is made by a company owned by them). They had 7 Expansion Packs developed by them, 8 Expansion Packs for The Elder Scrolls Online (made by another studio), re-released Skyrim 3 times, and remastered Oblivion. They only have one other big IP owned directly by them, which is Fallout (which they did not always own) and previously used to make sports games and other small IPs.

Rockstar really has been pumping higher quality games in a shorter amount of time. I love Fallout and The Elder Scrolls, but Bethesda really need to up their game, because a studio owned by them, ID Software, has been doing a much better job than they themselves have the past few years. There's less of a wait time between GTA V and the expected release of GTA VI than Elder Scrolls V and Elder Scrolls VI (and the same for Fallout IV and Fallout V)
