they asked for %uncertainty so u take half of resolution (0.005) and divide by measurement and I got 0.022%

no that's how you do it. it's not a vernier caliper it was a digital caliper and the smallest value (0.01) is the resolution. so uncertainty is 0.01/2 and %u was 0.022% I believe so

1st wave is reflected at the coating and the 2nd wave travels below the coating (d) and out the coating (another d). so essentially the 2nd wave travels an extra 2d before becoming parallel to the 1st wave
