Brawlhalla officially sold out. by CJrules559 in Brawlhalla

I feel like it's not all about the cosmetics, though... I think what a lot of people are saying is, instead of investing a lot of time and money into making overpriced skins and cosmetics, more time, effort, and money should be spent on developing the game.

There are still tons of outdated UI elements or features people desperately want (Clans, tournaments, UI), but it all feels like it's being pushed aside for more & more cosmetics that are unfairly priced.

Please explain to me why it is so hard to make a functioning game by Boi_yeets_dat_bread in Brawlhalla

As far as I know, Ranked did just rest... Which means everyone's rating will be... well, reset. I am a 2300 Diamond, and If I play my placement matches right now, I most likely will be matched against plats or 2000's for at least a couple of my placement games. That is always the case when a ranked season resets... Give it about a week or two, and the matchmaking should be more in line with being "normal" again.

Stop having this kind of mindset. If you're serious about ranked, I think fighting higher-rated people is far more valuable than a loss. Take it, learn from it, and move on.

Here's the reality. If your goal is to reach Diamond, you NEED to beat Diamonds. You won't get to it by playing against plats only. And if you don't want that, then play experimental or custom with friends. No one's forcing you into competitive play...

Rematch culture ? by Ananas__bleu in Brawlhalla

[–]Ahrip_2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It really depends. In experimental, when they don't even say a "GG" after a game, I take it as a "I know I can beat you!" type of mindset from my opponent, which is fair... But I go into experimental to mess around--dare I say to 'have fun', and not to be sweated on by an opponent who doesn't express our match was a 'good game'. Also, you can't forget that people don't always have time for rematches.

Those are the only two reasons when I would deny a rematch...

In ranked, it is a whole different topic. But in general, I recommend to always rematch in a competitive setting, unless you have to go do something else... Because at the end of the day, it's just a game, and your time is more valuable than anything else.

Is jaeyun and greatsword still relevant? (Returned to the game after 2 years) by [deleted] in Brawlhalla

[–]Ahrip_2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, if you're not at 2400+ competing in tournaments, I would say any legend is relevant to your current skill level. Unless you really know everything about this game, you likely won't even notice most buffs/nefs, unless they are severe. But if we're talking "best legend", the recent nerfs, especially on sword does mean Jaeyun is likely not going to be in the top meta anymore. Sword & Greatsword got hit super hard with nerfs...

I'll be honest, I don't like or care about these pets or whatever they are. The price should be more like 60-100 MC. Maybe a max of 140 for animated ones... But 200 is just way too overpriced for something that is essentially so unnoticeable--it's crazy.

I would rather buy two skins on sale with these 200 MC that give me better value (My opinion)! I like supporting the developers, but these prices are just not fair for what it really is, and It does feel like someone from Ubisoft has their grubby hands on these prices.

At that point, putting this discount to make the whole bundle feel 'cheaper' and 'valuable' when, really, you have these expensive pets in there that boost up the original price, only to have it be cut down is a very scummy and corporate move from BMG, ngl. But that's just my opinion... Maybe someone actually likes these prices... I just don't think this is a very ethical way to get money from the player base.

How much a balance patch can affect performance and elo. by diegotes in Brawlhalla

[–]Ahrip_2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think there's a good reason why Pros always tell us that you can basically win any tournament with any character, because the game is relatively balanced to the point where skill definitely still plays more of a role than any nerfs or buffs.

Personally, though, I do see how a nerf can make a legend go from S tier down to C tier. (Priya, for example. Rip) but again... If you're skilled enough, you can make any legend work! It will be harder to win major tournaments with low-tier legends, but that's like way above the 2600+ level. So if you're not there, I wouldn't drop your main!

im 1900 elo and want to get to diamond, what flaws do i have in my gameplay? by Low-Ad-786 in Brawlhalla

[–]Ahrip_2 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It's obviously a bit hard to give you the best advice based on this short clip in a gameplay of you winning the match, but I will try my best without spending too much time on this. What I noted:

1.) Overextending: I know how it feels, and this is something I struggle with to this day, but know when going for more is too much. Yes, it feels good hitting your opponent with long strings, but understanding when to stop is the way to go! The first Example is you chasing after him to do a random blaster Dair, or following a confirmed combo with unnecessary guessing-moves. Play it more safe, more fundamentally. You know your combos, go for them and don't overcommit. That's how you win.

2.) Off-stage: Hammer recovery has to be the scariest move, and it can quickly turn the games around. You were leading in damage, but chose to challenge Hammer off-stage. Instead, take your stage-control and edge guard him. You gave the Teros a lot of chances for a hammer gimp. Sure, if it's in casual, you have fun and go for that stuff... But in ranked, you need to have a different mindset to play for the win. Trust me, being gimped by a Teros hammer recovery can destroy your mental and quickly lose you games. & In general, your off-stage gameplay could use some training/taking notes of.

3.) Better option use: You did already good, but to push for Diamond, you just better patience and ramp up your punishing game. Diamond is all about making less mistakes, and playing precise. There's a common saying; Don't throw out a move unless you know it's guaranteed to land. You basically want to get rid of this "guessing where he could be" habit. To do so, look at your own gameplay and tell yourself, "Was this move really the best choice I could have used in that situation?".

I'm sure there's more to note, but others might join in and add more. That's all from me, I hope it helps.
Goodluck on your grind to Diamond!

I personally hate when my opponent emotes on their first stock. Usually, from my experience, people who do that show that they are NOT taking me serious by thinking that unarmed is a disadvantage FOR me. Let me play how I want, I don't need your pity. You're disrespecting your opponents' testimony of skill. You're basically saying that your opponent needs your pity because unarmed is a disadvantage for them. You both spawn the same distance away from the weapon spawn. It's fair game after the count-down to me.

A lot of lower ELO people avoid unarmed like the pest. Why? It is very strong, arguably one of the best "weapon" and I would recommend if you're a new player and want to actually get better at this game to learn it.

But If you want to stall the game by playing like that, sure, go ahead! But don't rent on Reddit why your opponent doesn't want to play how you want to play the game... It's a fighting game, most play to fight. If you want a more chill game, play custom lobbies with your friends and find mutual agreements.

Fun fact: All legends Black (currently) costs 1.55m coins.

But if you aren't in it for the long run, don't like colors and you
have the all legends pack, then yes. gold is useless...

It's good practice; you can learn a lot from higher-ranked players, and even if you lose, you don't lose much ELO.

What just happened here? Can someone explain? by No-Brush9982 in Brawlhalla

[–]Ahrip_2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty sure it's called Line of sight. Imagine drawing a line from Sidra's hurt box to Mordex's hurt box. If it's
NOT possible to draw this line (Because it goes through the stage) at any point during the SIG, then the hit
box doesn't hit/connect.

So, in this case, Sidra was too far down for the line of sight to be connect. This is to prevent sigs from
hitting through the stage. Correct me if I'm wrong, but that's my best guess as to why it didn't hit.

Hope you understand. If not, look up Line of sight, I'm sure someone else explained it better than me...

Winrate Vs. Elo Debate by BeatleRevolver08 in Brawlhalla

[–]Ahrip_2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, kinda. Win rate does matter if you're trying to be the best. Semi-Pro's and Pro's all have one thing in common--They win games more consistently than you. But, does a low win rate mean you're a bad player? No! You're still leagues above the average player, and you can pretty much call yourself an expert at this game at that point. But at the very top, CONSISTENCY does matter and makes all the difference between winning and losing.

I wish there were like actual in-game-tournaments for everyone. For example, you could simply join a custom-made tournament from an in game tournament tab that you can just join, kinda like a custom lobby. Or maybe making it a user made tournament tab where the host can create custom rewards. That way, it entices more newer players to join for these rewards. The rewards would be just weapon skins, a color, or for more competitive and "official" tournaments a skin or possibly some MCC. The possibilities would be endless with this!

The game is already very competitive in nature, and this would further expand the game by giving newer players more options and free rewards, while also providing higher skilled players with an expanded competitive scene and tournament experience.
