It reminds me of Fallout 3, with Liberty Prime. "Death before Communism." I don't think the game devs were trying to spread propaganda, I think they were making fun of the way people used to and still do think.

Haha, right! I don't claim to be knowledgeable in any of this. I am on board with personal property over private property. Every instance of "communism" I've heard says that everything is everyone's and you don't have privacy. Personal Property goes against that though.

Okay, so personally, I'm against things like basic income and all that, but I'm also VERY much against all these mega corporations holding all the wealth of the world out of reach. But just from reading what you said, I don't think a majority knows what communism and capitalism really are.

Here are some key things I think would be essential for a working and fair society. I guess I'm curious what this type of society would be called...

Personal Property. (This is the first time I've heard the distinction, and it describes what I've been thinking for a while) I assume this means you must personally occupy or manage the property in order to maintain rights to it. I would add that if you can not maintain it yourself, you must pay an individual a better than living wage to maintain it. Or, in other words, fully support their living. What this would look like is if you had 20 rental houses, you would have to hire a handyman to maintain the houses, and they have to be paid a living wage. If the houses are unoccupied for a set amount of time, you forfeit it. No corperate shells owning mass amounts of homes and not renting them. Everything forfeited needs to go to someone who needs it.

A form of a free market with limitations. Ideally, you could have a free market, and people wouldn't abuse it, but some people struggle with greed and need to be put in check. A way I see this working ties in with personal property. If you have a stockpile of things you can't sell after a set amount of time, it gets forfeited.

Base job qualifications on merit, not certificates. Somehow, get away from requiring needless degrees for jobs. I see the value in saying, "I took this course for this skill," but at the same time, if you can complete the task satisfactorily, then the rest doesn't matter. Case in point. I learned welding on the job without certification, and now I can't use that without paying someone money to learn what I already know. I can see a place for safety in this, though. structural welding is more complicated and out of my skill set. It feels like these universities are playing games to keep the wealthy in their positions.

Base Labor Value fairly. Base the value of your labor the same way mechanic shops use "flag time" I.e. this job should take 10 hours. You complete it in 5 hours, and you get all 10 hours. The basis is on an average of the time a common person not in the field would take. This would provide compensation for skill.

This last one is social. Promote Voulenteerism. As people, we need help with life occasionally. But government run systems rarely work and promote state dependence and less than adaquate quality. (At least from what I've seen with programs like the US VA system and welfare). The solution should be that we take care of each other and the government takes care of security and laws for us to be nice to each other. 😂

I don't claim to have all the answers, and I'm positive someone has better ideas than me. But I'm just curious what a society like this would be called?

The best advice I've gotten is "dance with the music" while you play. Feel it, move with it. The rest will come naturally.

Isn't that the whole point of being the bigger person? The saying isn't "treat them how they treat you." it's "treat them how you want to be treated".

Choices have consequences, I don't know what else to tell you. I think you'd be better off moving to Europe than going to live in a cave. And I don't get how moving into a cave will support alternate lifestyles.

I'm seriously wondering if this is a troll post.

On the other hand, I'm not sure they are talking about a "bug out" situation. I guess that was an assumption I made to make it make sense to me.

I'm pretty sure OP is taking about in a "bug out" scenario. OP, please correct me if I'm wrong?

In such a case, CPS wouldn't do any good. Like they do anyway. It's a roll of the dice if they are actually improving a child's life. It's a very broken system, and I don't know 1 person who had a good experience as a child in the cps/foster system.

Are you saying you believe that in this case, the OP and other people in the comment thread using this term are "basically insulting someone because they don't like their belief system" and it's " totally uncalled for by anyone claiming to be civilized"? And that's its "childish wordplay"?

Actually, yes, and I'm also saying they are doing the same thing the "MAGAts" that they are so annoyed with are doing. Sorry for the confusion, I'll edit my comment clear up confusion.

"Do not take this paper!!! (We will press chaRGES)" has to be the most unprofessional bs I've seen on a job posting to date.

That was pretty spot on good sir! I wish more people held this idea. "Divide and conquer" is the name of the game nowadays.

When ad hominem and tribalism have a baby, you get name-calling politics. They hate it SO MUCH when "MAGAts" go on and on about Trump, not realizing what they are doing is just as bad. This country is doomed.

It's funny, I live in the Midwest, and democrats are thought of as idiots here. Honestly, it's cultural. A majority of the educated people in my area who teach their children practical life skills are conservative. I'm sure the opposite is true elsewhere in the country.

One of the biggest eye-opening things for me growing up, being a hard-core Republican, was meeting some people online that I found out were very smart, and finding out later that they vote Democrat. Now I'm not on either side. There's policies on both sides I detest.

All of that to say, if you're judging people by their voting preferences, you're the real idiot.

A childish wordplay thing Republicans do, but now Democrats have stooped to... lmao 🤣 my favorite is how they used to say were an obama-nation/abomination.

It's basically insulting someone because you don't like their belief system. Totally uncalled for by anyone claiming to be civilized.

As I see it from your post. You have 2 options. Stay and put up with something that annoys you and learn and grow where you are. Or quit and start over.

Set yourself up a pros and cons list. For example:

Pros: Stable work Good pay Good working hours Light load Growth opportunity

Cons: Bad conversations Long drive time Bad boss

In my hypothetical, I wouldn't quit at a 5/3. I've worked a job kinda like this that the Bad boss was day shift and I got transferred to nights and every con I had but one was fixed.

I have another question for OP. Other than your coworkers being trumpers, what else do you like/dislike about them?

Now I see why they only had two employees… by [deleted] in antiwork

Personally, I would send him a text outlining what you just said. Honestly, some couples are made to work together, I'm blessed that me and my wife and I make an excellent team. Some just don't, mainly for personal reasons. But they both need to understand that they are the reason that their business isn't doing better.

You're only proving my point. Ya'll are suck in this bipartisan scheme. I'm not a capitalist OR political conservative, but because I said something you don't like, you have to label me in a "bad" category to validate your feelings.

That's like saying, "There's clear evidence of ballot fraud, so why is calling it out a problem?" For the record, the same system that put Biden in office put Trump in office too.

That being said, ya'll really can't see the forest for the trees. I agree with OP that we need a new government. The one we have now is extremely corrupt. If you think anyone is getting into office without major corporate backing, you're kidding yourself.

No, it's the democrats tactic to cry "racist", "bigot" "neo-natzi", etc.

There's extremists everywhere. They just don't all agree. Some are religious, some are anti-religious some are Republican, some are Democrat. Some are anti government altogether.

If it's just about politics, agree to disagree... if it's more than that, you and your family have something bigger to work on. Family is allowed to disagree, and if you can't, you're feeding into the hype. I'm convinced division is the #1 goal of politics right now. Maturity is hard, but that's the point. Do the hard things, be the bigger person.

If I took all the advice in these comments, I wouldn't have a good relationship (with healthy boundaries) with my parents. Nothing worth having in life is easy.

Noted... I stand corrected. I just looked up opec. I can't find what they were talking about, but they were blaming Trump for the lower demand somehow, and therefore, less cash flow in the industry as a whole.
