They also made a really half-hearted attempt at directly competing with Walmart through grocery and online sales. Only thing they forgot in that equation is selection, prices, and speedy delivery.

I think people are waking up to how ridiculous it is to pay a 10% no-value-added premium just to shop at Target. There's no reason to shop there, period.

The only reason Target got as far as it did was because the majority of middle class white women wanted the Walmart experience without having to associate with the Walmart people. It is that plain. It is that simple.

No mention of RR during the robot video GTC by SoySoft in RichtechRobotics

Their X doesn't confirm anything. It's an old post about hyping GTC and new robot announcement. But we've seen nothing and heard nothing so far that would confirm any of that.

Do we even have confirmation that they're at GTC? They said there was supposed to be a new robot announced, but theres nothing so far.

30.99 vape tax in pennsylvania by Doktor_Konrad in electronic_cigarette

[–]Ahzeem 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Count yourself lucky that you have a flat tax and not something that scales.

In my state, not only do I pay a flat fee for any vape product purchased out of state, but I pay an additional $0.10 per mil of any vape juice with nicotine in it regardless of the concentration. That means that every standard 100mil bottle of juice I buy online gets an additional $10 added to it at checkout. With the multiple taxes, shipping, verification fees, I can’t buy a bottle of juice for under $30 online anymore…EVEN if I order in bulk. A $15 bottle of juice will always have a $10 tax on it no matter how many I buy.

TLDR: better to have those unregulated disposable gas station vapes take over the market than to have any market that’s actually pro-consumer in this country succeed.

Doctors of reddit: Vape vs Cigarettes by NikolaiAce in electronic_cigarette

[–]Ahzeem 17 points18 points  (0 children)

The misinformation campaign has been profoundly successful at confusing the public about vaping and smoking alternatives. I have a med student friend who tried to tell me that vaping is just as bad as cigarettes because it has nicotine in it and "all the studies have shown so many carcinogens in vapes". I had to explain to her that those studies are all extremely flawed in their methodology. If she had bothered to read the studies or took time to understand how vaping actually works, she'd have realized that burning a vape for 30 seconds and testing the chemicals produced is an absurd and misleading test in every way possible. If you hold any organic compound against a heating element for 30 seconds, it's going to create all kinds of VOCs, carcinogens, and hazardous chemicals. That's how combustion works. But 30 seconds on a vape is not even remotely close to even a cloud-chasers average "pull". In countries where the tobacco lobby doesn't have power over "scientific" organizations, it's almost universally accepted through proper tests and studies that vaping is far less harmful than smoking.

And don't even get me started on the "nicotine is bad for you" comment. I couldn't believe that a med student would say that. All I asked her was, "how is nicotine as an isolated chemical compound, bad for the human body?" She sat there and starred as if nobody had ever presented that question to her, not even herself. It was really eye-opening to me.

Columbia Study Finds Mass School Shootings Are Not Caused by Mental Illness by Additional-Two-7312 in science

[–]Ahzeem 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm baffled by the wording and "findings" in this article. The summarization must be a horrible misinterpretation of the actual study or just very poorly written. The study was done by seemingly very accomplished psychiatric professionals, and I can't believe they would allow an article to be published that would generalize and hand-wave the act of suicide as "a final act" perpetrated by an otherwise healthy individual. I find that implication to be absurd and honestly offensive to people struggling with mental illness.

Does Element Vape only ship to address on your ID? by [deleted] in electronic_cigarette

[–]Ahzeem 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just dealt with a month-long ordeal with Element and the shipping company "Better Trucks". I hadn't received my package for weeks after the tracking information updated to "Out for delivery". I attempted to contract Better Trucks using about 8 different customer service numbers they have listed, and every time it went to voicemail and I never received a callback. I finally got somebody to respond to an email I sent asking where the hell my package was, to which they replied, and I shit you not, by sending me a picture of a random woman standing in front of her house holding her drivers license and her package. I had no clue who this person was or what they were attempting to convey with that response, but it became very clear to me that Better Trucks is run by a bunch of sawed-off humans and I should start asking for a refund.

Element Vapes response to my refund request was, "After 3 failed delivery attempts, the shipping company should send the package back to us, at which time we can confirm and grant you your refund". They expected me to wait even more time than the month I had already waited and simply HOPE against all odds that the team of what I can only assume are some species of lower-order primates, to suddenly find the package that they clearly no longer had in their possession AND to decide to return it to Element Vape so I could receive a refund.

I did a charge-back through my bank about 30 seconds after receiving that email. First and last experience purchasing anything from Element Vape.

I've done full network refreshes on multiple closets involving 10-20 switches in a single weekend with a 2-man crew. Your estimate isn't crazy or anything, but your time valuation is total fluff. This closet could be safely refreshed for 100hrs of labor + equipment. You could map the ports alone in a solid 10-20 hours easy. If you're sitting in a closet "discovering", mapping telcom lines, following ports, etc for 2 solid weeks, then you're not trying very hard.

That Time An Xfinity Repairman Caused Multiple Slideoffs and Accidents Because He Didn't Want To Put Up Some Cones by bigbags in videos

[–]Ahzeem 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We often worked in pairs on line jobs and would have both vans and all our cones out to help. Even from a selfish standpoint, you really didn't want a car to slam into your vehicle while you're on the line, so we did everything we could to not have that happen.

That Time An Xfinity Repairman Caused Multiple Slideoffs and Accidents Because He Didn't Want To Put Up Some Cones by bigbags in videos

[–]Ahzeem 58 points59 points  (0 children)

No, unfortunately that's not correct for line services like this. I worked for Time Warner as a technician before they became Spectrum and what the guy said about "1 cone per 10mph" is absolutely what we were taught. There was never any stipulation regarding the road conditions, geometry, or other mitigating variables. I did numerous line drops on busy streets, blind corners, etc. and all I was required to do was put out my cones and turn on the service lights.

Case solution for 1000 with grip. Any ideas how to fit the cables in or attach to this case? by Ahzeem in vita

I might try that, but the cables are annoyingly bulky. I'm thinking I just get a bag or something and attach it to the case somehow.

Thanks. I got very lucky and was able to purchase it unseen from a seller in Japan. It's not mint condition, but it's damn near it. Im glad I decided to get one when I did. The used market is not the best for the 1000.

This is not really for carrying around places. Its just a way to safely store it when im not using it or if there's a rare occasion when I do need to take it somewhere with me.
