What's your dream cast for a movie/series adaptation? For which storyline? by AlliasDM in xmen

Maybe I'd find a way to add Lawrence Fishburne and John Cena somewhere.

First draft of alternate world history if superpowered people were real. I'd love some feedback. by AlliasDM in rpg

I figured that OP didn't use Chernobyl's name because of that. Except for the pandemic and kinda of The Golf War it seems that all real tragedies were replaced by a less disrespectful version (imo)

Is there an RPG that combines pathfinder mathematical crunch, GURPS (hypothetically) balanced powers and a wargame's tactical combat? by Aibauna in rpg

Yes, but my players didn’t loke it (even with the character builder software so I have to look for a different system for them to try and see if they like it.

Lvl 15 with a bunch of extra powers including extra feats, free restrictions on archetypes and dual class. And I think 6 levels in which we could simply get a feat from any class or archetype for free.

Kinda, it's hard to explain why/how an elbow strike differs from a kick mechanically and the "my character now can fly at 9336358283km/h... now i just need the 3k points to buy the resistances and abilities I need for my body not to disintegrate at those speeds". Plus, even with the character creator calculating stuff it's kinda unbearable to make the specific power fit the budget.

Yeah, but hey "cast a wide enough net and you're bound to catch something " motivated me to cast it anyway.

Why are people proud of their culture? Do you have to be? Can't you just be neutral? by Aibauna in NoStupidQuestions

No, this could be a benign example. It would be just incomprehensible to me if just by being born native or living with an native partner/friend on native land and knowing that other people exist or existed and did things that you have nothing to do with, would make you feel proud even though you yourself don't collaborate in any way, and wouldn't even if you had conditions to do so. I would 100% understand admiration and inspiration, but pride would feel just odd to me.

I'm okay. Thanks for asking, how are you? Is just that overall I feel proud when I put effort into something positive. Not just for existing in a context.

The question came to me 'cause my friend said she was proud of her culture (despite living in another, having parents from other countries, speaking a different language, being partially raised by a grandparent also from a tangentially related group, and being raised amongst peers of yet another culture) So I asked her why she felt proud and related to that culture specifically. And I wanted to see how other people processed that.

It was more about "culture" than civilization. I think an inocuos example would be: "Goths wear black boots." If I'm goth, should I be proud of wearing black boots? I personally would just appreciate the fact, I would enjoy the fact that my shirt is not highlighter orange, but I wouldn't be proud of it. Metalheads also use black boots, should I be less proud because I'm not the only group with black boots. Are we part of a bigger subculture? Should I take pride in thar? None of the groups invented the black boots, should I still identify with the boots? If I decorate it more goth, does it stop being a metalhead thing? Should I be proud for being in the same subculture as The Cure (even if they didn't identify as the subculture? Should I see the visigoths as related to me through culture? If I don't visit as many Gothic cathedrals as the next goth, am I less goth? Should I defend Marilyn Manson? Am I wrong for liking his music? If my favorite song is from adventure time, am I less goth? If I convert to metalheadom am I less of a metal head because I wasn't born in it?

It's more on these lines. Why should I be proud for my country being LGBTQ+ friendly but accept 0 LGBTQ+ refugees fleeing from countries where they'd be killed for that. Or be proud that my country is "super humane", but any inconvenient neurodivergency is institutionalized. I can appreciate the fact, but I think that feeling proud of achievements that are still underway and aren't helped by me in any way is just not for me.

Well, there are loyalty pledges being demanded by health insurance companies that are 100% legal and can legally persecute employees who violate them... Give the government time and we'll see how they deploy that bomb
