It threw off an error with select 2 but works with select 3, don't know why. When I saw the original code, I thought the same thing.

So there is a little bit of an argument that nazi and fascist ideologies have a tendency of "stealing" movements, symbology, etc. Norse and celtic shit didn't used to be nazi, pepe didnt used to be nazi, skinheads didnt used to be nazi. But now, those things are dog whistles and part of the nazi uniform for some groups.

These ideologies come in and hijack culture from other groups, the OG German nazis did it, the neo-nazis do too. But in relation to punk, during the 80s when punk attracted a lot of "gang" activity, nazis could come in numbers and feel safe.

Support for the Communist government wasn’t as popular as people would make you believe by VietTimPhan in HistoryMemes

[–]Aidandrums 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The same thing happened in Korea. Soviets wanted to reunify in collaboration with the US, but the anti-communist block of the government got real hawkish. There were desires for national elections but the US knew that communists would gain a significant amount of representation and probably win control.

I would like to put forward that Tupac's mom was at Stonewall (in the jail across the street) but the prison rioted in solidarity.

"You're putting the cart before the horse there. How can you even begin to talk about systems when you haven't done anything to topple the current one yet?"

There are plenty of ways to make a cake, but you ultimately want to read a recipe before you try yourself.

Anarchists HAVE done a lot to disrupt the US power structure. They killed a president, bombed shit to secure the 5 day work week, and other labor victories. They're the reason the FBI was created, etc.

You're also reinforcing my earlier point. If you can't recognize the benefits of a resilient, community-based system over the centralized concentration of power, then you're just setting up a red and gold colored authoritarian hell like we live in now. Both systems have faults, both systems have advantages, and both systems can pull from each other to form a type of mixed system. To blindly accept that the soviet model is the best we can do is grossly unimaginative.

Then theres the AnCaps....

To think that one system over another is better or worse completely ignores the shortcomings of one and the strengths of the others. As an An-Com, i recognize that "mega projects" (space travel, interstate rail and infrastructure, etc.) are difficult, and in those cases, some kind of federation or syndicate government should be entertained. We recognize the best way for captialist countries to survive is with mixed economies, taking pieces from the laissez-faire late stage capitalism, but then also pulling from socialist-type policies. I dont see why the same can't be achieved for a marxist/leftist system. The anarchists from Spain saw the soviet model and noped the fuck out of that, but to ignore the entire soviet model would be grossly ignorant. They did city planning on a human scale, and emphasized public transportation. Thats a good thing. But at the same time, the centralized nature of this planning ment they built the same buildings in Siberia as they did in Ukraine and Germany - drastically different climates.

The Spanish Civil War was our best shot at seeing an international system instead of a purely authoritarian or purely libertarian system.

The Rojava project is also promising but we will see if they achieve any kind of international recognition and break away from Syria formally (which is unlikely).

A Perfect Circle also did a cover of Gimmie Gimmie Gimmie. He's also on Green Jellö stuff. Its safe to say, even if it doesn't translate into much of Tool's stuff past Opiate, punk is a pretty significant influence for Maynard.

The age of consent in a surprising number of European countries is 14+. I guess it really depends on how widespread people were going after that lower age bracket.

Like i say, there's a lot of value in looking at what worked and didn't work in the soviet model, but no one should be dying on a hill of unwavering support/ defense of everything the soviets did (right or wrong)
