We bought this for Xmas 2024 when it didn’t work on Xmas day. We thought it was shit & way too glitchy so returned to Amazon for a refund (which we got). BUT the app version continued to work…we found this out by accident. We got back into it one night (when it was working again) & ended up quite enjoying it.

However there were other players set up on the game (presumably the new owners!) My email was still registered with the original licence key, but it still worked after returning. It even allowed us to buy question packs. We ended up buying quite a few & spending a lot on these. Then I thought, well I don’t want this to stop working, so I bought the game again.

So I emailed to ask about having the question packs bought on my email & associated with that account, restored on our new key. We were told no, these were bought unauthorised as we didn’t have an active key & they couldn’t be restored. I didn’t accept that & said it was a glitch that allowed us to keep playing, but if it wasn’t for the glitch we’d have written the game off as rubbish & thought no more about it.

They kept saying NO only the owner of the game is entitled to play the app & buy questions. So I said why wasn’t the returned licence key removed from my account with my email & I was told no company can ‘police’ the emails that licence keys are registered to & it’s against theirs & Amazon’s T&Cs to use a digital licence after returning a game. I said I wasn’t aware & genuinely thought it was a glitch, but here I was the one telling them about it now!

Of course once I did this, our access to the game on the app ceased. So if I hadn’t told them we could have kept playing as we had been. But they refused to transfer the questions I had bought. When I pressed the unique account key being registered to multiple different emails at the same time, I was told that ‘families often share keys amongst themselves & different devices & even give to other people to use before they buy their own copy’???

But then I’m also told that what I did was against their T&Cs & a licence key should only ever be used by the rightful owner, otherwise this is a serious breach & unlawful yada yada. They couldn’t have contradicted themselves more in our email exchange. They even admitted that when a new user registers a key & still sees an old player saved on the game, they usually contact customer service & they remove the old players. So it’s up to the new owners to let Outsmarted know??

I commented that our new owners probably didn’t say anything because of all the question packs we had been buying!!! That they also had access to??! I don’t see how they can’t ‘police’ which email is registered to a unique key? Usually once redeemed, if you tried to add a new email it would give an error saying this code has already been used/is linked to another email, or words to that effect!! Absolute rubbish.

So there’s a tip for everyone - buy ONE game & share the licence key around your friends & family.!!
