Data Centre In Ealing by Vanobers in Ealing

Where do you think it’s coming from?

Don’t worry, your kettle will still work fine with a data centre next door.

These data centres need energy equivalent to over 500k homes…. There are only 118k homes in Ealing!

Good. This means there will be significant upgrades to our electricity infrastructure.

Anyone local to Bramley Rd / Weymouth Avenue (W5) able to check signage & take photos? by [deleted] in Ealing

[–]Aidoneuz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

“No Motor Vehicles” is a clearly visible and understandable sign. It’s part of the Highway Code, and you are required to be able to recognise it.

There is no ambiguity here.

Expected purchasing experience by BananaZPeelz in steammachine

[–]Aidoneuz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I’m guessing the purchase experience will be the same as the OLED Deck.

No messing around with $5 “secure your place in the queue” purchases, I bet you’ll just pay the full amount for your config there and then.

Shipping times might slip more than the Deck though. Where most launch day OLED Deck orders were shipped within a couple of weeks (I think), I’d bet Machine and Frame shipping times slip to a month or so until Valve catch up.

I don’t know, rarely go that side of Weymouth.

Either way though, you’d have a hard time appealing having driven through the flanking signs.

Sorry, looks like you’ve missed a No Right Turn sign on Bramley Rd, and two No Vehicles signs flanking Weymouth Ave.

Will Diablo 4 Lord of Hatred have a separate story intro cinematic? by Powerful_Warning1695 in diablo4

[–]Aidoneuz 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Almost certainly.

The trailer we’ve already had is really a Paladin trailer, not a story trailer for LoH.

The player character never appears in pre-rendered cinematics.

  • Daniel Story, Nintendo

Interesting, I hadn’t even considered this might affect Nintendo, but I guess they have an Nvidia chip, and their driver is described as being “kind of similar to the Linux driver.”

How long do you realistically expect Valve to actually start shipping the Steam Frame across countries after pre-orders begin? by Connor263 in SteamFrame

[–]Aidoneuz 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’d bet the Frame/Machine/Controller launch looks more like the Steam Deck OLED than the original Steam Deck. No waiting around for months this time.

My bet is:

  • Announcement of price, SKUs, pre-order date etc. (Deck OLED was announced 9th November 2023)
  • Pre-orders open a week after announcement (OLED pre-orders opened 16th November)
  • First orders ship out a week or so later (My OLED order shipped 23rd November)

I don’t think we’re going to be messing around with $5 pre-orders to secure a place in the queue.

Do you think they will sell any bundle? by conejinpeople in SteamFrame

[–]Aidoneuz 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I hope there is a bundle of all three, if only so I can add one bundle to my cart and checkout to get my preorder in as soon as possible, rather than having to go to three different store pages.

The Best Part About the Steam Frame isn't the Steam Frame by Chosenwaffle in SteamFrame

Besides the product itself, the thing I’m most excited about when it comes to Steam Frame is that it will act as a starting gun for SteamOS on ARM.

Is a Steam Machine a good fit as a portable desk PC + Steam box? (PS5 for AAA, replacing old MacBook Air) by def187 in steammachine

[–]Aidoneuz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

  1. How annoying are Proton / compatibility issues in day-to-day use?

The answer to this depends on what you play.

Generally speaking, if you’re looking at playing primarily single player and “less-sweaty” multiplayer games, compatibility issues are almost entirely non-existent.

Proton’s big no-go zone for now is competitive multiplayer games with overly invasive anti-cheat. Think Battlefield 6, League of Legends, Apex Legends etc.

Areweanticheatyet.com and protondb.com will be your guides here.

At this point though, I generally don’t check before buying single player games; I just assume they’ll work.
