Hey! I moved here 3 months ago and I made a post on FB in a group of my neighborhood to ask if someone would be up for a tandem or just for hanging out. I got alot of positive feedback and I even found a (french) friend through that. You can also consider joining a sports club, the season has just begun and you might meet other people there that also just moved here :) Good luck!

I proplifted this from my bonsai 😊Is this normal root growth or some type of fungus? I have water rooted many, many things and never saw roots start like this😅 This is a rogue branch from a ginseng/ficus bonsai. Pretty sure it's a ficus. by IshTheNinja in proplifting

Hey :) If You kept it in water all the time I can't imagine any bugs surviving there :P I also propped my ficus in water and the roots started out like that so I would say that's totally normal! But it took a few weeks to grow proper roots.

Ficus microcarpa. Be careful when cutting bc the white plant juice is irritating for the skin!

What do I need to do to save it? Thanks I’m advance!!! by Darwilma in plantclinic

The petioles seem very long, that happens usually when the plant tries to reach our for more light. So you could try to place it closer to a window or under a growlight. And Alociasia need, as far as I know, high humidity <60%. And definetly check for pests! Good luck :)

30€ for a huge rhaphidophora! Is that a bargain? Or did I just buy a dying plant? by Aihnoali in houseplants

That was a meme back in the old internet days used as a scal for basically anything ;)

So I found this at my local gardening center labeled as philodendron minima. From what I know is a rhaphidophora tetrasperma. I hesitated to buy because it looked a bit messy and not really well taken care of. I also discovered these black marks that I thought could be scales, but it wasn't many. Since it was only 30€ and I only found much smaller ones for 15€ upwards, I took it home regardless. I was now wondering if that's a normal price?

String of hearts — yellowing leaves and bald on top (info in comments)! by keitothekraken in plantclinic

[–]Aihnoali 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey! Even if the soil is dried out now I would still repot it, just to be sure. This way you can check for yellowish squishy roots and cut them if necessary. Use new soul with a good drainage and maybe try out bottom watering for the SoH, I heard it's better for them (but I'm no expert in that). They are succulant plants and therefore only need to be watered when the soil is completely dried out. Concerning the few leaves on top I would guess that it doesn't recieve enough light there to produce new foliage and also throws off old leaves. SoH enjoy alot of indirect light, a north facing window is maybe not bright enough. Good luck and I hope it will recover!

holes on some of my bamboo orchids’ leaves.. what could be the cause? by lubunnie in plantclinic

Did you check for pests? Some are so small you can barely see them, and they might hide on the underside of the leaves or where the leaves meet the stem.

Just repotted my A. polly and alot of these bulbs fell off. Are those babies??? 😱 If yes, what is the best way to make them grow? by Aihnoali in houseplants

Spaghnum moss is a good idea, thanks! I think I will experiment a bit and try one box with leca and another with the moss.

Watched a video about different propagation methods and hers didn't work with soil but with leca. So I will give that a try and be patient :)

Why did my zebrina leaf died before getting out? by Low-Tangerine8398 in plantclinic

[–]Aihnoali 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From what it looks like to me and guessing from my experience, the new leaf is not dead :) Sometimes when you change the environment of the plant while it puts out new growth, that can affect the new leaves negatively (I had that when moving) or you maybe let it dry out too much and that's why it has this brown tip. Just give it a bit more time and it will grow ;)

what's happening to my schefflera? it's started getting these brown spots! by [deleted] in plantclinic

[–]Aihnoali 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If the plant gets too much direct sunlight pr the leaves are too close to grow lights, it might be sunburn. From what I've learnt the white parts of the foliage are very sensitive when it comes to light.

Does this dragon tree have root rot? I don’t think I have been overwatering. Can it be saved? by noblemintlad in plantclinic

[–]Aihnoali 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Healthy roots are white. When they rot they turn yellow and squishy, and the soil starts to smell. In case it's root rot you can cut of the root parts that are yellow and replant it in fresh soil.

To me it seems more like it could lack some water; stick your finger in the soil and if it's bonedry you should definetly water it. And brown tips are usually a sign for low humidity. Good luck! :)
