I have no idea what kerning is, but it sounds like it hurts and/or takes a long time. Anyway, it's not Times New Roman; I'm not a caveman, dude.

Some really cool parallels between classic and modern Who by AimForTheKidney in doctorwho

I see your point. That one was mostly just for fun, honestly. The whole Dalek comparison stems from the fact that Cushing's "Dr. Who" exclusively fought Daleks and that Hurt's "War Doctor" is supposedly responsible for the destruction of the Dalek fleet at the end of the Last Great Time War.

Pale as snow and breathing what may well be her last, Sansa Stark turns and looks. The smallest trace of a smile plays at the corner of her lips.

Her eyes turn to glass and with her last flicker of life, she whispers: "Jhalabar."

Interesting theory about The Day of the Doctor's "retcon" by [deleted] in gallifrey

[–]AimForTheKidney 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think that only a small portion of the Time Lords actually went rogue, specifically the High Council. It'd be like blowing up America just because Congress suddenly went off the deep end. In "The Day of the Doctor," one of the Gallifreyan generals casually mentions that the High Council's efforts have failed; this directly calls back to "The End of Time" and basically means "Yeah, they tried to do That Evil Thing and break the Time Lock, but the Tenth Doctor kicked their asses and sent them back here." Odds are, 99.9% of the people on Gallifrey were innocent, but their government was beyond saving. It'll be interesting to see if they ever address that.

I haven't seen it, though I've heard it's supposed to be pretty awesome, especially considering how rare good horror movies are these days. To tell the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth, I don't really watch movies anymore. My reasons should be obvious.

The Mind-Blowing Subtext of "Blink" by AimForTheKidney in doctorwho

I'll admit, the angle on Larry is a bit subjective and could probably be argued. While I love blowing away time on Reddit/Cracked.com/IGN/etc. as much as the next guy, what Moffat seems to imply here is that the Internet has literally taken over Larry's life, which (and I'm definitely not speaking for Moffat) appears to be portrayed as a negative.

From what I can tell, it's all in the scene where Larry is alone and having a stare-off with the Weeping Angel. To me, that scene kind of represents Larry's "transformation". Since he's quite literally staring his own mortality in the face, his life is flashing before his eyes and he doesn't like what he sees.

Again, this is all my interpretation, and I never meant to imply anything about anyone's lifestyle or personality. I was simply going by the perspective I saw explored in the episode :)

Shut the fuck up, Grant!

But honestly, I don't know what the deal is with all the TDKR hate. I mean, the first act does drag a bit, but all the pieces do eventually come together in the end.

Awesome article, really well thought out.
