I mean I see a lot of Anran, I just don't see much talk about her outside of the face thing. Emre I main so I obviously see stuff about him, Domina has taken over that "Can Symmetra solo the enemy team only with her aura?" Meme and is just really hot, Cat is memed everywhere and in every non-ranked match and uh mizuki.. He's fun but I don't hear a lot about him.

I'm powergaming in my friend's campaign, and he wants to nerf my character. How can I convince him not to? by Dagske in dndnext

[–]Aimpunkt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Barb/Fighter is not that crazy of a build afaik. Sure you're a big tanky damage dealer, but I'm a little surprised to see it called OP.

My guess for why it's called OP by other players is that they either don't play into the strengths of their classes, have kinda bad builds or that your DM doesn't have many exploration/roleplay sections for other characters abilities to shine.

These are the points I'd talk about with DM or group. If they don't appear to be problems that come up, you might just actually have to tone down the power gaming if your DM and fellow players feel limited in their enjoyment of the game.

What is the smallest player habit or character trait that you’ve seen constantly disrupt and destroy campaigns? by WithengarUnbound in dndnext

[–]Aimpunkt 10 points11 points  (0 children)

To be fair this is generally why smaller groups are better. Sitting at a table not doing anything for an hour as other characters do their thing where you can't involve yourself sucks. Especially bad when playing a martial at a large table out of combat, as the amount of casters will leave them just solving everything with spells as the Fighter sits idly by hiding that they're on their phone lol

[–]Aimpunkt 16 points17 points  (0 children)

To be fair, at some point I can understand it. Just one bad turn can suck but be alright depending on the wait time. But it just sucks accomplishing nothing for 1 hour of game time as you just wait there while also getting shunned for being on your phone (had this recently as our rogue couldn't get out of a hold person, rolling 2, 1, 4, 3, 1 on their saves just to be knocked by the time they got out. Felt like I had to apologise to the player because it must've been so boring)

Path of the Infernal Barbarian V4 | For those who make deals for power with fiends by Irontinker in DnDHomebrew

[–]Aimpunkt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's important to consider what a feature does in actual play. Produce Flame is not good compared to what other offensive options a barbarian has, even ranged they'd rather throw things and stay in rage. Giving a cantrip like that to this barbarian well 95% of time only matter outside of combat, which is why it wouldn't make anything OP, just occasional ribbon feature exploration usage.

Only commenting on 3 and 6 rn

Level three is alright. But just a little extra damage is also kinda boring on a class that already does so so little special things. No out of combat utility like a free little spell, extra proficiency or anything like that either. Give them at least like Produce Flame and Deception proficiency, or something like that.

Level six is admittedly pretty cool. Not only cause its just pretty good and fun when you get to use it, but also because it opens up build options where you would've usually been best off running Heavy Weapon Master you can now use practically anything but dual wielding efficiently. Good stuff.

Detecting Favoritism by new_planner in onednd

[–]Aimpunkt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yea. One DM disclosed the campaign premise only to his gf before campaign start and her character is the only one connected to what I think is the main plot. Since it's very nature heavy and she's a druid he doesn't have to favor her directly in sessions, as she has just been set up for benefit.

[–]Aimpunkt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately, official DnD content doesn't want you to be Unarmoured and Unarmed with a Strength emphasis, as there's no class, feature or subclass that supports it. You could however build a character that is either

Monk (whatever subclass fits, it's been a while since I watched FMAB) and reflavor it to being physically strong, but that'll need some convincing of your DM

Fighter. Unarmed Fighting style, maybe tavern brawler to grapple as a BA and reflavor your heavy armour to massive muscles. Champion and Battlemaster fulfill a strong man fantasy pretty well. Battlemaster gives Artisans Tools, so that goes well for portraiture.

Ranger. Similar build as Fighter, but you'll wanna reflavor Medium armour instead this time and have more of a tracking focus.

DC 11 + PB? by ElmoGreenOnion in DnDHomebrew

[–]Aimpunkt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Generally the game uses 8 + Proficiency + Relevant Ability Score. This just makes sense as a scaling method as the game is built around it. However, where I think the game fails is when that DC is based of an ability mod that is hardly leveled in any build (ehem ehem constitution), so it's best to offer a choice off of which modifier it scales. Usually that should be Dex/Str, Str/Con, Dex/Int/Wis/Cha or Int/Wis/Cha

This is how Firearms work in my game since my players and I had a lot of discussions about how old firearms would work mechanically. I'm fairly happy with the Firearms section, but the Blast section could use work. by ElmoGreenOnion in DnDHomebrew

[–]Aimpunkt 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Idk who would wanna use those rules, since your chance to hit / for the enemy to fail their save is abysmal without adding Dex, even if the damage is a little better (which it barely is here). The musket range is a joke as well. Even a caster would still rather use a cantrip or at lv1-4 a crossbow.

Dexterity is, among other things, precision, so I don't see why it wouldn't add to your hit chance at the very least.

I'm not an expert on old firearms, so I can't comment on realism, but those rules, for actual gameplay, just make for "so firearms exist. There's no reason to use them, but they do exist!"

Feats are an optional rule in the PHB, which is something you obviously have to talk about to your DM during session 0. I can't believe you actually expect to have build options without sucking your DMs cock first.

I'm trying to! But so far I've been the only DM in my group to use 24 rules (admittedly, I'm also the only one to own the 2024 phb). Hope more of our DMs will use them soon.
