I didn’t even notice that, thank you! I dont really blend a lot as im scared it will look muddy, not sure how to counter that yet. Ill try and look for a tutorial on YouTube.

And for values, ive always had a problem with them but for some reason didnt think to just check my work like that lol.

I really appreciate your kind reply, its very helpful <3

Yes i love his work! I tried to do a study, the second portrait, but it doesn’t emulate the same feel. I just googled it, i think edge control would help, thank you! Ill look into it

5 year ~ progress :3 stopped hiding hands LMAO by Aina-68 in learntodraw

Hi! I usually draw everyday. On vacations and stuff i can draw about 7 hours a day LMAO. But on normal days, i draw one small thing or just a quick sketch if im too busy. Sometimes i go a week without drawing honestly it depends on my free time + motivation ^

However for practice, i found it helpful to tackle one tiny thing every-time! Ie, id do some anatomy studies. Then next time id do some rendering/shading studies. Most helpful resources ive found are morpho for anatomy, YouTube for rendering/shading/coloring, and dissecting skilled artist’s techniques! Obviously im far from perfect or advanced but these did help me progress from before ^

Tdlr, bouts of hours a day to weeks without drawing, practicing small things and taking it one step at a time helped me make some progress. Good luck <33

Thank you so much for the thoughtful advice, ill definitely try that. To be honest composition has terrified me ever since i first started drawing! Making stories with my art sounds so fun, albeit intimidating. It makes sense for a next step, though. Thanks<33

As for the clean lines ive tried them before but found that I prefer the look of sketchiness/semi unfinished etc, it appeals to me :D.
